Black Death
I already own two sets of airsoft eyewear (tinted goggles and normal also) however I am looking for something that looks a lil less 'airsoft'. That probably sounds odd as that's what I plan to use them for but I'm trying to make my load out more casual looking then all out modern warfare (not that I don't like that look it just doesn't work for me). I have always liked oakley s and own a few pairs but I have found a new set to buy that are a nice balance of casual sporty style with a bit extra side protection (deffo don't want side gaps). My load out is black with a hint of red here and there so the oakley Ducati range (bout 6 or so types) is perfect as it too is red on black. Problem is I have found a spec for impact resistance but It seems more oakleys test then an official recognised test. On the oakley website they recommend the strength saying its good enough for bike riders (which I just about struggle to believe as I ride bikes and I know a small pebble at 70-80mph will chip a bloody car wind screen let alone cool shades). I asked a oakley rep once if they are tested ever against bbs but they tried to reassure me they get tested against worse so I should be ok. Just need someone to give me some hard facts before I feel happy about buying these. Below is some oakley text from their webby Impact Protection ANSI impact tests are the gold standard for measuring safety. See for yourself why athletes insist on Oakley impact protection. geoffreym
I use these http://www.uktactical.com/acatalog/Oakley_SI_Ballistic_M_Frame_2.0.html and they have been shot multiple times at various ranges with various powers (including a factory stock Cyma AK at about 3m) with no damage, my brother unfortunately keyed a scratch into them which really angered me. Plus they are very good at limiting fogging.
SheriffHD
Yes, they are good.Oakley ballistics are widly know as being epic. (See their brother company ESS) they use pretty much the same lense type across the board for all their sport and military line of glasses. although the sport glasses are designed to look nicer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9hkF9irI3k
Black Death
It would seem the more relevant spec is the MIL one rather than the ANZ one. I'm not too keen on the range that have the full ballistic spec as they look over sporty for me Looks like I'm sticking with my normal airsoft goggles for now • Fully compliant with all ANSI Z87.1-2003 protection requirements • Fully compliant with MIL-PRF-31013 Vo Ballistics

SheriffHD
ESS and Oakley, are one in the same. Id go as far to say that style and performance they are yet to be beat.
