So you are saying that COD multiplayer is good? Face-off on splinter cell was fun. Turn off gadgets and enemies. Enable pistols only and you have a fun game where you're hunting each other, pretty scary. You don't know what's going to pop up at the next corner :)

In short? No.

In long: NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Or, to actually explain myself:

The game mechanics promote a rushed style of play. You can move around as if you're on roller blades and it's natural to enjoy moving at speed, so people don't want to stop; hence everyone running around like a headless chicken.

Weapons all have their firemodes set for you, 90% are full auto only, which removes the need to aim properly as you can just spray the crap out of everything whilst skating around.

There's a map to see the environment, everyone always gets kill streaks to get a UAV so you can more or less see everyone on it at all times, there are a ton of built in hacks that they cleverly call perks so no one realises that's what they are, and everyone you're fighting against is, or has the mental age of a 10 year old, removing all potential tactical elements from it, full stop.

The point here is that in my opinion, CoD takes no skill to play, and as I said in my last comment, games that are too easy, are crap.

CoD has gone a step beyond this and made everyone equal by removing all tactics from the game. Even if you hooked yourself up to an electric chair so you'd die if you were killed in the game, you'd still end up being killed by some tit that just runs out of nowhere and knifes you because you can't be careful enough to avoid it because there are too many people doing it, because the game promotes it, so it's shit.

To be fair, I joined one of my friends whilst he was in game. Now he is good and I mean really good. You'll never win a face-to-face unless you get him in the back. Anyone you play a match based on your skill level. When I joined his game, I just got owned by a bunch for drop-shot sweats. No wonder he always comes first when he plays in my games.

Your grammar says it all :)

Not sure about battlefield but I fear it may be repetitive and turn into another COD-fest. Hopefully not but we'll see. Next game on my list is Splinter Cell: Blacklist (No hate plz) :) I mean they're bringing SPIES VS MERCS BACK!!!!

Another game I'm looking forward to is Watch Dogs, that looks VERY good.

Edit: Wow. I've just gone off topic in my own thread...

I'm more excited for Rainbow Six: Patriots and GTA V. I'm hoping that this new Rainbow Six has the amazing character customisation that Vegas 2 has, seeing though I love making my guy looking as cool as possible. I even managed to recreate MTP on it. :P

Call of Duty just has 0 appeal to me now. Even Battlefield has lost it's touch since BadUpdatefield 3 came out. DICE concentrated too much on the visuals and making it noob-friendly for it to be a fun game for me.

Got to agree with you there. I thought BAd company 2 was ALOT better than battlefield 3.

BTW Ed, have you ever been quick scoped on BF3?

I guess I have, but I wouldn't really call it quick scoping. To a certain range you can just hip fire at people, especially if you're one of the morons that put a laser sight on snipers just for the sake of filling the 3rd attachment slot.

If you're on the move and just tap the aim button then you've got about as much chance hip firing as you do "quick scoping".

I'd call it being, "Luck shotted".

no doubt less than 1 hr after it released there be more hacks in it, than in a woodchoppers dairy, been playing MoH, CoD, BF etc since for ever on PC (not xblob or splaystation) all full of hacks. never seen the point to trying to be top dog in a game with downloaded skill pointless.

That's the beauty of a console. Apart from the occasional old game that no one plays. You can't get hacks xD

I just yawned so hard I dislocated my lower jaw.

Credit where it's due, the graphics do look like an improvement on the previous games. Also (if you're interested) you're supposed to be able to completely customise your characters. Sadly, pretty graphics aren't enough to make me buy a game.

The narration is so pretentious it almost verges on self-parody.

There's been some big "event" which has screwed over the US massively. You play as the remnants of the US's various SF units. Yet... despite the fact that there's been some huge, monumental event which has torn up the US - these SF guys are running around with more tactical gear than the average infantry brigade.

And the "event" - they won't tell us what it is. I can't help but laugh, because it reminds me of this -

Well, it looks like the story MAY be better. Getting in an actual script writer to do the story. But at the end of the day, it's all going to be the same, horrid mess.

Also, I watched the xbox one reveal last night and they had the COD director guys on it. I bet the dog dies (not being horrid or anything)

The dog?
Yeah, the last game I played that tried to drum up hype by announcing it had a dog in it was Fable II.
And I'm sure we all know just how awesome and great Fable II was  .

The ARES AEG gearbox of games...

Thats nothing new, Tom Clancy games have had that for ages!

However, if Price isn't in this I'm going to be upset :D

Hate to disappoint, but he 'aint.

Or at least, I highly doubt it. The behind the scenes video (I haven't posted it but it's easy enough to find) said that the plot is entirely focussed on the last of the US-SF guys. No Brits. So, I find it unlikely that everyone's favourite combat-grandpa will be making a return.

Which is a shame, because the SAS story lines in CoD were always the better. Well written with some genuinely witty moments (at least in CoD 4)

And then 'Murica!!! steps into the scene and a nuke goes off, killing millions

No Price no CoD :P

I have managed to obtain the nickname Cpt. Price for my affection for boonie hats and facial hair :D

But back on Ghosts, it could be good, or very shit... hopefully the story will be good and it will be like a film :)

Hopefully. They brought in a script writer to do the story. Should be interesting

There hasn't a good one since 4, i cant see this being any different to be honest, it'll have better graphics but the fan-base will be the same and I doubt they're going to take a risk by changing how it plays.

Still, there might be a survival mode or something- the one saving grace in the last 3

New game engine, *still* in DX9; eh no I won't be buying that.

(for reference the old engine was in effect a tweaked version of the Quake 3 Arena, which was first used in 1999, DX9 was released in 2002, the fact that each new iteration of CoD since 4 has claimed improved graphics is utter tosh because of the limitations of both the engine and DX9 as well)

I don't get why the half the CoD fanbase hasn't packed it's bags and switched to Battlefield. CoD is getting worse in every title the publishers bring out, and Battlefield seems to be getting more like CoD all the time whilst still retaining the BF franchise's original selling points.

Tbh with the amount of competition emerging this year, I'm not sure if the CoD franchise will be able to keep it's head above the water in the coming years.

Just seen the trailer. Meh. Not sure I like the graphics. Thought it looked abit like MW3 :( Customization's cool, same with weapons and the dynamic maps. I'll still buy it, but i'm not blown away by it :/ It's got sigs though... ;)

Thoughts? I thought they seem to nicking a lot of ideas of other games here. Looks like they're running out of steam. Can't believe im saying this, but the destruction looks better than battlefield's. Bet it's restricted to certain pieces of the map though.
