There is also more of an adrenaline rush being behind enemy lines close to enemy players, and a better feeling when you hit them when they think they are safe and hear "Where the f***k did that come from" and you see a mixture of and and . Then you feel , , , , , . I have to disagree with you on this one. For me theres a more of an adrenaline rush when you make it thru enemy likes and can lit half their team up from behind and there all like Then you feel , , , , , . I'm pretty bored with support too, but, with my health the way it is, sometimes I have little choice - I can't always move quickly enough to play front line assault without getting shot so quickly that I spend more time regenning than skirmishing! But yeah, there's the cool factor of course, but more so is the practicality: I want to be able to pop the enemy from further range sometimes, especially on days where teamwork is scarce. Just like a total noob though, I can't actually be arsed with the whole sniper role. If I get round to it, I'll just carry the SVD on my back for those odd times where I can't advance without getting popped and I can't get anyone else to suppress for me... I have got neuropathy that causes constant pain in my feet & legs, plus a fcuked up back. I was hoping to skirmish this weekend, for a night game too, but I'm too wrecked. It's a real pisser and what makes it worse is that if I go through an extended bad patch, like now, my level of cardiovascular fitness drops off, which makes running even harder... 3-4Kg of rifle isn't going to make an appreciable difference to my 92Kg body. An airsoft sniper rifle does not have the range from the rifle itself, and is unlikely to even be on a site where you would need or find a proportionate distance, therefore eliminating all rational need to have one. If however, you want to buy a ghillie suit and crawl around in underbrush for hours you are missing out on the event IMHO. Snipers have their place.. say at a milsim event where an objective is planned, and a sniper rifle would be handy. I play a lot of CoD because it's fun. I can see why (and I do it myself) people like choose sniper rifles.. but video games are obviously nothing like reality or even airsoft. Owning a sniper rifle before you've played is bit like being going into a guitar shop before you've picked up a guitar before and saying you'd like the Flying V. It'd be better to buy a bipod and an ACOG or a similar sight, because effectively.. like silencers.. sniper rifles are just there to make you feel cool or be part of a loadout that you'd probably wish you spent the money better on. No, just like an AEG doesn't have the range of an assault rifle, but despite engagements taking place at ranges much closer than in the real steel world, camouflage still has its place. So do pistols, with, generally, even less range than a typical AEG, and 280FPS shotguns, 300FPS TM rifles, 328FPS AEG's, 345FPS, 365FPS, 425FPS DMR's, and 500FPS sniper rifles. It's all relative. In the real steel world an AW .338 outranges an M14 outranges an AK47 outranges an M4 outranges an AK74 outranges a G36C... In airsoft the distances involved may be measured in single figure metres, but nevertheless, if I can shoot you accurately with one shot and you can only just get the odd BB to drift out to me by aiming up 45 degrees, with no consistency whatsoever, I have a tactical advantage. Chippins Posted March 8, 2013 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Honestly I wouldn't mind, but the amount of times I've seen a 14 year old kid rack up with a bright orange L96 firing .2s at people well out of range is just depressing, especially when you hear one yell NO SCOPE!! after finally hitting you. (Needless to say the young gun in question became death marked for the rest of the day.... I digress) That said a skilled sniper, who's put the work in and knows his shit can put that added worry into the back of your mind for the whole day.
