Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted November 5, 2012 Supporters Posted November 5, 2012 Answer the poll. I don't want to turn this into a political debate, but to me guns and gun related things have always seemed more of a right wing thing. Fox hunting is almost perceived as a ritual to the upper class people who partake in it, for example. It seems as much about the donning of those weird jackets and riding horses with a horn, than it is about the use of guns and killing a fox. Then there's the US politics, where (all?) the right wingers feel that the liberals are trying to impose gun control and things like that etc etc. I personally am strongly leftward leaning, being a sociology student, a student in general during these times and I'd probably also consider myself a Marxist. Guns don't seem to wash well with most lefties, or at least that's the way the media seems to spin it, yet I love guns and I'm open minded about both sides of the debate surrounding their laws. But anyway, Obama/Liberal/Labour/ Milliband, or Romney/Rebublican/Conservative/Cameron?
Tariq Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 comparing US politics to UK politics doesn't quite work imo. The cultures and how the whole system works is very different. OBAMA FTW though. Is vermin supreme not running ?
Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted November 5, 2012 Author Supporters Posted November 5, 2012 That guy is a fantastic public speaker, somehow lmao. Love it. But yeah, I know you can't really compare US and UK politics, but I think that at least the core principles of left and right are still there.
AF-UK Founding Member Deva Posted November 5, 2012 AF-UK Founding Member Posted November 5, 2012 It's worrying that it is supposedly very close.
Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted November 5, 2012 Author Supporters Posted November 5, 2012 I think if Romney wins, I might have to kill myself. Simply because if people can elect someone that stupid, I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
Alexb111 Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I mistook Romney's election campaign for a man mastering the art of suicide! Seriously though, with his actions about Libya how he became a candidate astounds me, he's probably caused more diplomatic and internal problems than he would have been able to solve during his time as President if he'd got there. Gun control for me is a mixed topic, yes I would like to be able to own a gun and shoot it. But no I don't think its a good idea to legalise ownership in the uk or anywhere. As soon as its in shops that allows for easy importation to criminals etc I'm all for having shooting sites same as airsoft sites. Registered with the government where people can go, pick up big guns and shoot at targets and stuff for fun. The government can even supply the weapons & ammo and make a pretty penny. That way they can still keep control and can regulate it yet the public can have some fun at the weekend. Thinking back to some of the people I used to know at school, college and university and their intelligence and general behaviour I would be running for the airport if gun ownership got legalized for everyone over 18.
kety_smith Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I personally strongly stand for Obama and I am happy that he won!
