Bulld0g
I would like to get aa we 3.8 baby hi-capa but the fps is quite low (250fps on green gas) i know that springs are used to change fps in rifles but howdo you change it in pistols ?
Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted June 15, 2012 Supporters Share Posted June 15, 2012 Stronger gas or increasing the size of the gas flow valve. Maybe also making the hammer spring stronger so the gas release valve gets held down slightly longer. You'll probably find that the gun chronos higher than the quoted fps, most green gas pistols I've seen chrono between 280 and 310, higher if it's CO2. If you change one thing though, you might need to change other things to get the gun to still function the same. More fps = more gas used per shot = more recoil, so you might need to get a stronger recoil spring for example. But if you get one too strong, the bolt lock won't work... For what it's worth, 250 is enough for a side arm, I mean, it's a side arm... You only need it as a last resort, you only really need it to shoot about 30m and be accurate enough to hit a man and I'm sure even at 250fps it can more than manage that. Just my two pence. Bulld0g
Cheers, never looked at it in that perspective and for a full metal pistol at a £80 being a good well known brand i can't go wrong.
Supporters Rock-climby-Dave Posted June 15, 2012 Supporters Share Posted June 15, 2012 I'd say save up and get a TM Hi-capa. metal pistols just don't work in the UK without very high power gas (Co2) or many hours and much money spent on upgrades. Unfortunately it's either TM, Maruzen etc or CO2 for UK weather.
Tariq
KWA dammit Why does everyone rule out the NS2 type pistols for the cold. mine worked great in freezing conditions.
Panda
I improved the fps of my TM P226 by updating the hop rubber to the nineball version and the doing the same for the magazines gas routers. I also upgraded the piston head. The results.... Fps prior to the upgrade as recorded at Tactical Warfare was 260fps. Afterwards the fps was a consistent 310fps. Other upgrades planned are a 6.03 tightbore as that should bump it up a little too. I was reading a post on another forum where the effectiveness of hi-flow valves was found to be minimal.
