Hello All & A quick question or 2..

Hi there,

Have found this forum after my son has started bugging me about getting an airsoft gun. I've been reading a few posts about starter guns, and think I've managed to persuade him not to get a crappy plastic AK47 off justbbguns. I've also realised that I have a Tamiya style charger (O-IP2500) and 7.2v 2000mAh NiCd battery pack from an old RC car - but possibly very dead since it hasn't been used for a good few years.

So what recommendations can you give me for a 2-tone gun of reasonable quality around the £100-120 mark? I'm thinking G&G or CYMA would be a good start - but I don't know if these will take the battery, or use the charger?

Opinions & offers of help greatly appreciated :-)

Many thanks,

Matt

Welcome to the forums :)

G&G or CYMA would be a good bet. Your charger might be fine, but really the battery won't be adequate. I'd probably look into getting a newer charger too if yours is simply a trickle charger (not one which detects when the battery is charged). Hard to advise on a battery until you pick a gun also. Different guns can fit different sizes. Some places sell packages so you can get all 3 in 1.

The specs for the charger are here: http://www2.ripmax.net/Item.aspx?ItemID=O-IP2500/EUR

So think it will do fast and trickle. Was quite tempted by the G&G M16 Carbine - http://www.proairsoftsupplies.co.uk/acatal...t_machine_.html and at under £100 it seems like a steal. Any thoughs on the gun?

It does look like I'd need to get a new battery though...

CHeers,

I just got that gun yesturday as a back up weapon.and i must say its a decent weapon

Tried to persuade him about that one, but he's decided that he wants an AK47 variant - something to do with wanting better sights and a front rail.

Will keep looking, or if anyone has any suggestions (or one to sell), let me know.

Cheers,

Matt

Hey i`m afraid unless your gonna Spend almost £250 you won`t find one with rail`s unless it`s an M4 Variant

although it`s your lucky day i have a Two-Tone CA G36E with a firefly hop up nub and bucking a rare to find tightbore for it and 2 high Cap`s and i`ll chuck a couple of batterie`s in aswell as a charger and all he will need to get really is a mask as it already has a built in Optic (Sight) and if you decide you like airsoft when you get your UKARA He`ll be able to change out the part`s for Black one`s or you can paint it BUT ONLY WITH A DEFENCE ARE YOU ALLOWED TO CHANGE THE BRIGHT COLOUR`S as i presume he is 14 or 16

yes its called ukara. if you dont have a ukara number you can only buy brightly coloured guns.if you get a membership by printing out a form and going to 3 skirmishes in no less than 2 months but no more than a year and get the site to sign it then you send it off to ukara and you can buy any coloured gun you like including black.you have to renew it every year by e mailing them.by the way most sites will do it for free

You can get an AK with rails close to your price range - here.

I've got this myself and it is a beast - chrono's at 349-351 FPS out of the box and the hop didn't need adjusting to produce good range and accuracy. Most of the pics there are a bit misleading. As it says in the blurb, there is no rail on the top cover (top, rear) and it has an ergonomic pistol grip. Also the muzzle is plain, not diagonal. This is the accurate pic:

Cyma-AK47-RIS-Tactical-C-W-Trades_700_600_3RVIF.jpg

£125 - tell me you have seen a sexier AK for less than 3 times the price and I'm all ears people!

I bought a 1600mAh battery from Action Hobbies too (£17) which is good, as opposed to the battery the gun comes with which only lasts about 1 1/2 hours of intense use! The supplied trickle charger works, but that's all I'm prepared to say about it other than that you need a shaver type plug converter because it's a 2-pin job.

It comes with a sling which I can't see coping long with the weight and running about. I'd recommend a 3 point sling for it - I bought a K&H Mountain one from a Hong Kong eBay seller and it works great on all the guns I've had it on (G36c, M4, AK47). They seem to be out of stock currently, but it was £5.99 inc. P&P. I can't recommend the knee and elbow pads I bought at the same time, mind - they started falling to bits after the 2nd time through the washing machine. Still, I plastered them in gaffer tape and that sorted them out and now they're pretty good with a layer of camo sniper tape on them  - better to just get decent camo ones in the 1st place I suspect! The same company also sell a variety of masks and goggles, the best of which is probably the full face killer mask for £15 inc. P&P (IMO) but the cheapo black mesh goggles and plastic lower face guard assembly ones for about £7 do the trick.

I also bought a spare waffle mag with the gun for £16.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply. I've picked one up for him, funnily enough the CYMA AK47 (not the tatical one) from here http://www.novatcombat.com/product_detail.php?id=368 it's a great bit of kit and he prefers the full stock, and £10 cheaper to boot...

I've got a charger that I had from an old Tamiya RC car, which does peak and trickle charge, but suspect that another battery will be in order soon; I'll also check out the slings and mags.

Cheers,

Matt

Yeah mate, that looks to be exactly the same as mine apart from the stock. I'm sure it'll be a right laugh!
