Been on the lookout for a gun to DMR and I came across this LCT G3. It’s a full size, mostly metal, big mag, big gun. 1.1m long and 5kg with an empty mag she’s a beast. Plan to get it looking right, bit of patina to make it feel its age, might see if I can find a set of the wooden stock/hand guard I've seen on my travels. Era correct 2 point sling and optic, maybe a big fat mock suppressor to add to the bigness? Need a couple of extra mags as well. When it’s looking right it’s going to a tech for a good service, not sure on the condition of the internals? Sounds a bit whiney, but does shoot straight, not sure if that’s a characteristic of this motor/gearbox combo? Will be rebuilt to be a semi only DMR, optical mosfet for trigger response, big spring for power and a good shim to get it running smooth. Another very pretty gun to add to the collection.

Played Apocalypse Sunday Skirmish. Had a really good time. New site for me, free game courtesy of the Modern Warrior airsoft shop which they offer if you spend £150, nice. Site was very nice and well maintained, not overgrown like a lot of woodland sites, lots of structures/barricades to clear or hide out in. Lots of open 'no mans land' spaces to negotiate in the mix. It was busy but its a big site so there was space to move without getting shot at and with the layout there were good opportunities to flank the enemy positions or try to come in from another direction. Only real challenge is the walk up the steep hill from the car park, had to do this twice to get all my kit on site. I will pack better next time. Was a misty cold start, then a bit of rain before it turned into a sweat box 2/3 seasons in one game day, double nice!! Games were great fun, nice mix of attack and defend for all sides in every game compared to the usual playing each scenario twice. 1st game was rescue the injured pilot, we attacked the other team to rescue the pilot then had to take him/her back to a location and defend until extraction. Lots of different play going on with sniping/DMR keeping us in cover for a couple of players with pistols / AEG's to sneak or run at us. We only just held out with the other team making a big push in the last 5 minutes. 2nd game was pure domination, 3 locations, hold 2 out of 3 at the end to win. We held 1 until the last 2/3 mins when a group of about 10 of us at respawn decided to have a suicidal rush at one of the locations. We took it right before the end of the game and were lucky the game ended when it did as the reds were using the same tactic in the last few seconds to take it back. 3rd game was capture the flag. We were split into 3 teams and had to capture the flag and return it to our base while the other 2 teams tried to do the same. Was a great game and not one I've played before. We had a fast paced teenager who ran in, grabbed the flag and took it back to our base very quickly while the rest of us provided covering fire. It was then a game of keeping the flag for 45 mins, as expected very intense towards the end. I ran out of BB's and the battery was running low in the MP5 so had to drop to my trusty Sig in the last couple of minutes, should use semi more, it's not a LMG!! Gun choice was the Cyma Platinum MP5 and WE Sig 226, great combo and they shot really well. Also took my newly acquired (used) TM AK47 EBB for bad guy duties, it chrono'd well but died after a couple of mags, just stopped working and doesn't make the Gate boot up noise so suspect something electronic, maybe a fuse if it has one, has fried and needs investigation. Players were 99% friendly, a couple of lads got a bit salty with the Marshalls at one point. Hit taking was very good and incoming fire stopped as soon as you put your hand up which is a nice surprise from the last couple of sites I've played where overkill is the name of the game. On site shop was good, well stocked and very busy. Didn't have anything from the burger van but given most of the players did I can only consider it as good. Will be going again!!

Different to my usual western ‘special’ forces load out I’ve gone classic bad guy with this very pretty TM AKS47 type 3 EBB. Second hand and upgraded with a Gate Astor, tightbore barrel, hop up, nub etc. It cycles lovely and smooth and looks stunning with just enough patina to make it look like it’s been used but looked after for decades. Off to play at a new site tomorrow so look forward to seeing how accurate it is and how it does on the chrono, but it’s an AK so full auto aimed at something over there will hopefully get a hit or 2.

To add to my recent WE sig 226 mk25 I have been looking for more of the 30 (36) round green gas extended mags, our local CQB site only allows you to take 300 BB’s into each short game so I’ve been trying to get to at least half of that in mag capacity, the mags hold enough gas to shoot 2x full mags of BB’s, so I only need a speed loader in game to get to the magic 300. I found a used, looks brand new to me WE sig 226 P Virus for £60 with the extended mag included, the mags alone are £35 so isnapped that up so I now have a complete spare gun should the need arise. Now packing 4x extended mags and the std mag so 140 BB’s on paper but more like 160 when loaded so mission complete. Added the WASDN X400 Vampire laser/strobe/torch and have the Acetech brighter C incoming to complete the indoor CQB pistol load out. I had a quick practice with the laser and it’s really helpful when moving around in a CQB environment and the strobe will hopefully distract some of the incoming fire, I will see if I can mount it in a usable way on the MP5K which already shoots lasers and with an actual laser should be an amazing CQB platform.

After every game I dunk it in a bucket of warm water with some sports wash or white vinegar which kills the smell generating bacteria, I used to do this with my running / football kit when the washing tablets stop working. If it gets very dirty/muddy I take the pouches etc off it and give it ago in the washing machine with the rest of my washable kit @40 degrees.

Had a fun couple of hours on the range at Bespoke Airsoft in High Wycombe this week to try and improve my response time to target and accuracy with the MP5 and Sig 226. The lane had electronic targets linked to an iPad with a number of games, spent most of my time playing hit as many targets as you can in 30 seconds and shoot the hostage taker not the hostage. Managed to get from 27 to 45 hits in 30 seconds with the MP5 and 14 to 30 with the Sig (with a mag change) big learning was ammo conservation, I will confess I am a bit of a spray and pray player but this taught me to make an accurate first shot count rather than sending 2 or 3 in case the first doesn’t hit. Two other lanes were occupied and we had a competition going between us for rescue the hostage, hostage target was green, hostage taker was red, hit as many reds as you can without hitting the green. Shop was well stocked (I only took 2000 BB’s so ran out) and reasonably priced. I Had a look at their walls of guns and they had some nice looking kit. I wasn’t there to buy a gun so didn’t look too closely in case temptation took over.

lovely looking MP5 I have my torch mounted on short piece of ris on the right side of the gun and use my thumb to push the button on the back of the torch rather than trying to find a way to mount the pressure pad. There’s also a longer version of the Cyma foregrip if you find it uncomfortable.

Saw a father and son using one of these a few weeks ago, don’t think they hit anyone but it looked like a right laugh, it cut through the (softer) weeds and bushes like the one on Predator!! For the second game they took a 3000 round pot of BB’s with them and left it at the spawn point so they could keep it going. Glad they were on my/our team! Have fun!

Thanks everyone for the advice and guidance. I know the advice was to buy the TM gun but I ended up going with the WE, the weight and balance of the gun was just right and the supplying shop is only 10 mins away if it goes wrong, sorry and genuine thanks to everyone for their time in giving me guidance. Also picked up a couple of 30 round (extended) mags, to my eye the 40 round (extended) mags were just a bit much and standard 24 round were a bit normal. Managed to get a full mag and a full reload before running out of gas on both the standard and extended mags which I was quite happy with as I just took a small speed loader out in my pocket to double my ammo capacity. Tape is just there to help me recognise /recover it if it gets lost on a game day. Gun shot well on Sunday, 255fps on .28's which it shot straight and true. Me on the other hand needs more practice with a pistol before any level of accuracy can be determined. Enjoyed the GBB element so much I'm now wondering a if a GBB rifle should be in my future rather than a bolt action sniper but that's a question for another day.

Another great day at Invicta Woodlands on Sunday, hot and sticky but not a lot you can do about that on a warm day after a thunder storm. Being father's day it was fairly quiet with around 75-80 players, half the usual crowd. No snipers, at least 3 mini guns and a lot of new players ment it was going to be a different kind of day. For kit I took my upgraded MP5K which I used for most of the first game until I got to hot and dumped it and its mags in the safe zone and went pistol only. MP5 with a drum mag for the second game using it as a support weapon to help keep the other team pinned down. For the last game I went with my new Sig 226 pistol only which made for a fun hour. First game was capture and hold the flag, two hour game which felt about right and due to the smaller than usual number of players the game flowed quite well, there weren't enough players to hold all of the flags so with a good push you could take a flag with 3/4 players. This type of game can drag out with bigger teams as once a team are dug in you just can't move them. Dumped the MP5K, mags, belt etc etc towards the end as I was just to hot, took the Sig 226 and a couple of 30 round mags out and just ran at the other team which worked well as everyone was flagging by that point, chalked up 3 back to back frags as I ran around the other teams flank. Second game was recover the boxes to base, first game we were trying to stop the other team. Rules are you need two people to carry a box and you can't fire while carrying. I used the MP5 with a drum mag (mostly) on full auto to help keep the other team from advancing. Really enjoy this type of game as they are very fluid with the action moving around the map with the teams and the boxes so its very fast and fluid, one quick advance or a well placed defender can change the game in a second. Third game was the reverse with our team moving the boxes, decided to leave the AEG(s) in the safe zone as it was scorching by this point, it was getting late in the day so I choose to play carry and run. With just the Sig on my hip, a spare mag and one of the much younger rentals we grabbed a box and ran, and made it to the drop point before the other team got there to stop us. Towards the end of the game when it got more intense I ended up with a riot shield in one hand and the Sig in the other heading to the drop off point, 4 rentals carrying boxes and a few team members providing cover fire, was one of the most intense fire fights I've been in and I will have bruises for a week. A plot twist was each team had 3x traitors who were wearing your colours but actually playing for the other team and you had to flush them out as you played. Got shot in the back while advancing a couple of times and called traitor on a team mate who was actually just a bad shot, LOL. Really great day out, similar games to usual but with much smaller teams the tactics and game play were different. Liked the pistol, just need to learn to conserve the ammo and do some target practice. Bring on the next game!

Think it’s a Cyma thing, somewhere for the battery to go. On the L version (MP5K) you can put the battery in the top of the gun if you use a AK slim stick type. On the G version it usually goes under the hand guard but you need tools to remove it on this version, it’s also full of mlok holes so you would see the battery.

Impressive, new gun is £300, drum mag is £50, the poly mags are £9 each if you buy 5, rail is £9. I bought one of these used recently for £150 which I thought was a good price for a very good out of the box AEG. And it’s 4 years old and looks like crap, if you try and fail to take the two tone off at least respray it black over the top……

Thanks everyone for the feedback and information so far. It will be a fun secondary gun to go with my AEG for sure. There’s a bolt action sniper in my future later this year or maybe early next and I will add a TM or some sort of MK23 to that load out as a serious sneaky pistol. The shop had a universal plastic holster which it did fit in but it was very tight. They had the ‘genuine’ holster at their site shop which they will bring over for me to try as it should be a better fit. How thick is the plastic on pistol holsters? Could I soak it in hot water for 5 mins and stretch it a bit? Will take a look at the TM version, thank you for the suggestion. I try and support the local shop as they are very helpful and always happy to help when I get stuck.

Hello hive mind Currently play only with an AEG but fancy giving a pistol a go, mostly play woodland skirmish and the occasional indoor CQB. Realise a pistol won't have the range or accuracy of a 350fps AEG (or the BB capacity) but it looks it might be fun to use a pistol as a secondary toy, maybe more of a challenge than a point and shoot AEG? My main AEG is a MP5K with a MP5 as a back up so I have had 80's/90's special forces load out in my head while looking at pistols and I have come across the WE version of the Sig F226 MK25 which I am quite taken by. I like the white dots on the sights for easy aiming in the gloom of indoor CQB. I thought the sights on similar Glocks / Hi Cappas were a bit small and would be hard to use indoors and with fairly big hands I found the really flared magwells of some pistols ment they were more challenging to hold. The WE Sig it feels like a solid pistol in the hand, nothing showey about it, it just works, rail for a torch or laser, very special forces. I have watched the YouTube vids and read the reviews but are they any good? Any general comments on WE pistols before I take the plunge? Understand they are one of the better brands? I will be buying from my local shop (who don't have a website) but its the same as the one below. https://www.bespokeairsoft.co.uk/we-mk25-gas-blowback-pistol-black

Should more sites weigh the bbs during chrono?
Baser replied to JVacation's topic in General Discussion
Invicta Blacksite ask you to bring an empty mag to chrono which you fill with their .20's and speed loader, if under 350fps you can then use your own ammo up to .25. Think it's because most engagements are 1-2m away and it hurts a lot when you are under the limit and I can only imagine what it would be like if you were over. The woodlands site is more of a trust site where you can chrono with your own ammo but then engagements are 10-20m so a significantly lower risk of injury. -
Invicta black site is really good fun, indoors, up close and personal, quite dark so you need to use the light to help with tactics, everyone is friendly, according to Google it's about an hour from Woking. It's not full auto as the engagement distance is usually 5-10m and semi is plenty. I use my MP5K with a Gate Astor for fast trigger response so can get a good number of BB's in the air. https://www.invictabattlefield.co.uk/cqb-site

Autobot electric speed loader as I’ve decided I prefer to use mid caps with the MP5 but find I get hand cramps in the afternoon when trying to reload in the 5 min pause between games (when I should be re hydrating/snacking).

Should more sites weigh the bbs during chrono?

The local indoor CQB site chrono with their .20 ammo which is great as typical max engagement distance is 2-5m so they need to be extra sure you aren’t running a hot gun. You can run up to .25 for the game, the safe zone is so small you would be spotted pouring BB’s out of a .28/.30 tub (assuming you were stupid enough to bring them in the original packet) The woodland site is based on trust and will re chrono you if other players let the Marshall know they think you are running hot. Personally no idea if/how they weight the BB’s you use, I have 2xAEG’s which chrono around 320-330 fps on .20 so never been re chrono’ed on field. There are obvious and easy ways to cheat the system but as Jez said above if you cheat from the start airsoft isn’t really for you. -
Me in the middle as we move the crates to the base, the guy with the shield did a cracking job of deflecting the incoming BB's from a LMG posted down the track. Really wasn't sure about the leg mounted, open top mag carrier thing but it works really well, reduced the insulation around my body and help keep me cool. Me, parked where the LMG gunner was giving him few rounds back when the teams switched.

I wear either my Apple Watch or no watch. When I wear the Apple Watch I wear it on the inside of my left wrist so its face is against the gun when shouldered. I don’t wear it for indoor CQB, as it’s very up close and personal, I don’t even use an optic as I’ve seen to many shot out.

Latest additions to my MP5's Nuprol E1 T1 red dot on a raiser for the MP5k. Won't use the red dot for CQB but I will be playing a woodland game on Sunday so it will come in handy. Short mock suppressor for the full size MP5. Really like the look of this one now, it was a scratched boneyard gun that wouldn't shoot straight when I got it a few weeks ago. It's been serviced, greased, straightened, painted and had the optic, fore grip and suppressor added and looks stunning now.
-
As above, part of our fields CQB briefing is “Do not pick up anyone else’s reusable grenades” leave them where they are or if they are a trip hazard move them to the side of the corridor or room, if I randomly find one I just tell the Marshall where it is when’s there’s a lull in the action. Distracting you in any other way is fair game, I’d be pleased he didn’t come through the door and shoot me to make sure.

More open top viper mag pouches to go on my belt as I was sweating buckets under my chest rig last week. 2x 1100 mah 11.1v batteries and a 1 point sling as I am taking a mate to airsoft for the first time tomorrow so need to be able to field both guns at the same time instead of choosing between them.
