  1. SRC makes a good quality one and it isn't expensive. They are available in black or tan.

I've seen them as low as £40 and as high as £80 (overpriced) over the last couple of years.

Unfortunately they appear to be sold out in most places.

Fortunately they are still available here, and at a fair price:

    https://www.davescustomairsoft.co.uk/src-28-71-0cm-smg-hard-case-tan-p-49-dt

Those retailers with the term BBGuns in the title also tend to have them:

     https://bbgunsuk.co.uk/airsoft-gun-carry-case-in-tough-plastic-mid-size-in-black/

Great little boxes with a tough plastic with little to no flex. They are also useful for multiple pistol transportation. And other things too.

  2. I have always believed these were interchangeable, and others have confirmed this.

However, on looking at the respective TM parts diagrams, I was surprised to find this does not seem to be the case.

The serial number of the TM 5.1 bbu shell is H51-11

The serial number of the 4.3 bbu shell is H43-5

However the internal parts for the shell of both the 5.1 and 4.3 do have the same numbers and that should make them identical.

    Can I really put a 5.1 bbu in a 4.3 slide?

  3. Thanks for the reply.

It is a black 5.1 hi capa frame that I want. It must be in good condition and not have those horrible TM rails attached. I have only seen two or three for sale, all out of stock.

I think I'll try posting in the wanted section.

  4. These aren't always as easy to get hold of as you might think.

Which is strange when you consider that the TM hi capa is probably the most customised airsoft pistol there is.

I know Ebog Designs sell off parts left over after builds, as did Elite Shooting Centre, but Hi Capa Hub doesn't appear to, and there are very few oem parts on second had forums.

Can anybody recommend a site I may not have come across?

  5. Yes, sorry. I am specifically interested in the TM Gen 4 Glock 17 paired with a cnc Guarder slide.

Usually with a Guarder slide the tm bbu needs modifying. If it is one of the more recent, more expensive cnc slides, I am assuming the TM bbu would be a straight fit.

    Thanks for the reply.

  6. I wanted one of the Infinity Vintage ones by Airsoft Masterpiece, but they are sold out in most places.

Eventually I found one in Hong Kong shop. I had wanted black but this one was in titanium grey, which would have been my second choice anyway, so I bought it.

I don't generally go for two tone guns and so I began to consider these options for the lower frame:

    1. Get it cerakoted grey - with grip safety, slide safety and slide stop would probably come to well north of a hundred quid.

    2. Buy a 5.1 stainless and use the lower frame and silver safeties from that - it would be no more expensive than a cerakote job but with the advantage of having a new gun and additional magazine. I know the silvery grey finish flakes off quickly, but I could remove it altogether, polish it up and spray with a clear coat to limit oxidation.

    3. Strip off the black paint on the lower frame I already have and repaint it grey. I would have to buy three rattle cans for this: primer, top coat and clear coat.

    4. Just leave it alone as a two tone pistol. After all it doesn't look bad. I could even put a grey grip and magwell on it, for the sake of balance.

I never skirmish my pistols - I don't even holster them. They get only light occasional use in my garden so I feel the cerakote option is difficult to justify in terms of cost.

Is it possible that the TM mock stainless finish might last a bit longer then some people say. After all lots of people still buy that version despite the finish being a well known issue. The finish on the black lowers is pretty fragile too for that matter.

    What do you reckon?

I've got at least one of each brand with P226, P228 and P229 models  ,

TM - shoots quite nice but feels dated and tacky now

KJ - full metal but poor finish and a bit rattley

WE - actually one of WEs best models , nice finish , realistic feel and firing pin look , decent performance

KWA - Nice finish , NS2 system just feels weak to shoot , bad markings

VFC - stunning finish and performance but not so easy to track down (def my choice for the best)

I do have some other brands too but they aren't worth adding as they are either super expensive or rare these days

Is the VFC one produced for Sig, who recently entered the airsoft market? I think they call them Proforce. Not widely available in the UK.

I agree about the KJW. That awful thick black finish on their Sigs is both ugly and fragile. And they do tend to rattle. I prefer the WE Sigs.  They look much better and have a great blowback.

I don't usually like getting metal slides for my TM pistols because I love how efficient the plastic slides are... but my hi-capa slide snapped at the front when the front sight was ripped out by some very determined brambles that I was wading through (the bottom part of the Worthing Airsoft site is basically unplayable at the moment...)

So my hi-capa now has a metal slide. Surprisingly snappy still on green gas at room temperature thanks to the lightweight blowback unit and probably feels the best to shoot due to the fact it's still snappy but the metal slide has some weight to it; might get a bigger recoil spring, but we'll see. Will be running it on propane anyway, so here's hoping it'll be fine in the winter too.

    Gunsmith Bros?

  9.  The solid grip, not the skeleton version.

I understand the magazine will be a tight fit, and that it may have to be pulled out rather than just dropped. This is not a problem for me.

I also believe that some internal sanding may be required around the mag release and trigger bow so that they work smoothly. This is not a problem for me either.

However the skeleton grip is said to be fragile and easy to crack. That is probably understandable when you look at it. But is that down to the design rather than the quality or thickness of the polymer?

I am only interested in the full grip. Does it suffer from the same weakness as the skeleton grip, ot is it just as sturdy as the TM ABS grip?

My We Glocks have got M/L rubber, I key and hop wheel in the WE unit along with a Crazy jet barrel. They work well, I find RAtech kit can be a bit hit and miss .

Also the same in my WE glock and it's great. I never bothered to get the casing because of RATechs random QC.

Thanks for confirming what I suspected. I wasn't impressed with the RATech casing. The WE one actually seemed better made.

  11. I have had one of these in the past. It consisted of the hop casing, Maple Leaf rubber, metal dial, hop lever, I key and inner barrel.

Now I am considering buying another. Can I forget the hop casing this time, and just get the inner barrel, rubber, dial, hop lever and I key. Will everything fit into the WE hop casing? I ask because I seem to remember the brass coloured RA tech hop casing was a bit longer than the WE one.

  12. Thanks for the reply.

Fair enough. However when I browse the web, which is all I have to go on, many do not seem to be aware of the improvement in Guarder slides - except for the CNC offerings and the steel slides which are a lot more expensive.

I am no expert but I have been able to fit Gunsmith Bros and Prohandgun slides to hicapas in the past, and I know how to use wet and dry and a file. So maybe I should give it a go. Some of these Guarder slides go for not much more than fifty quid in Hong Kong.

I would appreciate your comments on whether other brand outer barrels would fit a Guarder slide.

  13. I I have been looking for one of these for a long time, and Airsoft Masterpiece may or may not do another run of them - one day.

In the meantime Guarder appears to be the only alternative. Not only is one advised to steer clear of them, but they are overpriced in the UK - almost as much as CNC offerings from other manufacturers.  And the Guarder outer barrels are made of steel which I regard as neither necessary or advisable for use with an aluminium slide.

Maybe a non tilting aluminium outer barrel from AM or Gunsmith Bros would work with a Guarder slide, but I don't know.

In any case getting a Guarder slide that will fit a Marui frame with minimum work or take a TM bbu seems to be entirely a matter of luck.

Should I take the risk or just  live with my disappointment?
