  1. I'm in the market for a new CQB gun and I'm thinking of two options, either a Mk18 M4 or a HK 416.  Below are two examples that intrigue me. (Tokyo Marui's are just a little expensive atm...)

Anyone have any experience with either of the below options?

    1)E&L  Mk18 MOD1 M4

    2)G&G GT Advanced TR4-18 (HK 416 clone)

In your shoes if I can I always try to scrape the beer tokens together to buy another gatt that’s basically already to go if I can . I find if I’m after a very specific gun I’m never truly happy with my own build but if I can get one ready built from a retailer ?

      £183 from Gun-fire.

Thanks for the suggestion guys...gonna wait till next payday, spent to much this month on bits & bobs... :)

  2. I've been tinkering and pulling it apart constantly, learning how the thing goes together...I have a potential trigger contact issue, so when I get a free day..i'm going to delve into the mech box. Also i've not been the kindest to it out on the field..it's had two dunking's in water and caked in mud several times. The forward RIS is starting to wobble a bit, so need to find out a way of making it tighter than a Yorkshire man! My ICS on the other had is treated like a goddess....anyone who looks at it the wrong way, gets their throats ripped out. (Ok made that bit up..but i'm a lot more careful with that one as it cost me £390)
  3. Yes I do.. But it's getting a little tired. I've moved onto a sexier, younger model now...tight and sleek..and oriental.
  4. Was at RIAT today to watch da planes...found a RAF Regiment stand and got to play with some guns...OMG! I cannot believe how good the Elcan Spectre x4 optic is on the L85A2...me wanty one!!! (I have  clone Elcan and love it...but the real thing..shit hot!)  I just need around £2k I suppose to buy one..lol

Lucky! I’ve never seen through an Elcan.

  5. Bugger...just got my rota for my new job and i'm working both Sunday's at two of my fav sites..Grrr! At least my 3rd fav is available on a day off!  Time to break out the lights & lasers and hit some dark dark tunnels!!

  6. Is .30g BB in a 350fps ICS MARS with Prommy purple & flathop to much to ask...or stick with .28's?  I seek wisdom from the Elders... :)

It was too much for the APE, .25s and .28s seem to be the sweet spot for it.  Is the MARS similar enough to the APE?

.30s with a prommy and Prowin (standard nub) in mine no problems.

      Mine chronos at 330.

I found the purple better with the standard nub than being modified into a flat version

try it, if it can lift it then it'll be good, although the problem with heavier ammo is the bb travel time, but it's the choice we all have to make.

  7. Nothing sexy this week..but seeing as it was "hotter than hell" last weekend, I ended up ditching the chest rig...but had issues with where to carry my mags. Had a couple on my belt..but wanted to carry more, so just ordered this US Govt issued M16 x6 mag bandoleer, to carry a few extra mags when I wanna run light during the summer days.
  8. Tried the CXP M.A.R.S out yesterday and wasn't to impressed with the flathop and .25's..after lunch I decided to dump all my mags and refill with .28's..WOW!! What a difference it made...going to try even heavier ones as well next time.  :)

i tend to find flat hops to be a bit finnicky, sure they're perfect when they're set right, but a gnat's fart is the difference between too much and not enough.

run mine with a prometheus purple bucking and nub on .28 bb's and find it shoots brilliantly

  10. ICS CXP M.A.R.S. carbine.... shoots 345fps out the box and flathopped it today. Looking forward to rocking this badboy tomorrow. 😁

  12. Noob question.. 40mm Moscart 120rnd nade, is the o-ring which keeps the BB's from falling out actually 40mm? Or slightly smaller for a tighter fit.

    1. Adolf Hamster

      Adolf Hamster

my madbull shell says 36mm od when installed

  14. Thunderstorms on way for Sunday...should make game day interesting.

  15. Well just ordered a Firefly Flathop nub & Prommy Purple and will attempt my very fist 'flathop' in a few days.  The whole 'wiring to deans' went ok, so this is the next step.

I'm also trying this over the weekend for the first time too - I'm using a madbull hop unit and I 60 degree Shark hop bucking. I'm going to do the DIY approach of using a rubber eraser as a hop nub and see how I get on. We should compare notes 😅

    2. Monkman

      Monkman

Yeh, I was thinking about just cutting up a rubber as well..but for me very first one I wanted to use official parts..lol  :)

    3. AndyDynamic

      AndyDynamic

Not a bad idea at all - I'll be the one playing with a scalpel blade cutting up a small bit of rubber - first aid kit on standby! 😨

  16. Is this strange behaviour?  I am sitting at my computer, watching youtube vids, whilst cradling my rifle.

I just went 12 weeks withtout a skirmish mate and it will probably be at least 2 weeks before I can afford to go again.

  18. Just in from Tactree.. It's Multicam 5.11...in a sea of multicam, but this one is mine.

It was dropped off down the local post office...so hopped, skipped & jumped my way there. (Went in car actually)  5.11 Multicam Combat top..  :) :) :)

  21. Another good day yesterday @ Kidderminster Airsoft (Paintball Park) their 3rd event and great to see them trying out new & different scenarios.  My new barrel/Bucking/Nub/Spring in the ICS seemed to be ok, but wasn't greatly impressed, but I guess it just needs a little tweaking...might try some .28's next time up from .25's.  Was hot & sunny, sweating like a mofo..but felt awesome!

  22. Was in JDAirsoft yesterday and played around with a ICS L85A2..my god it's a heavy beastie.

lol...well my little ICS CQB is a heavy little sod, got lots of comments about it today...Why does it weigh so much? Where's the weight at?  I think ICS probably used IRON instead of Aluminium in there earlier guns..lol

  23. I don't have many patches...but this one about sums me up...lol
  24. Well that was fun..changing the springs on both my Nuprol & ICS.  ICS Was simple, but small springs were a bitch.  Nuprol has the quick change out of the back of the mechbox..but my god I had to take the gun apart practically.  After many mistakes, managed to put everything back to working order..just need to get  a new spring tomorrow to go in the ICS to bring the FPS down, now i've extended the barrel.   I had fun!!!

and now you know why i hate the v2 box.....

and front wiring, because that just makes a pita job even harder for no good reason.

You'll have gearbox removal down to ten minutes tops in no time mate :) dont sweat it.

  25. Time for some 'Pew Pew Pew' tomorrow... :)

    1. Adolf Hamster

      Adolf Hamster

I think i shall be mostly "pew pew pew, pew pew" for the attacking games and "pewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpewpew" for the defending games.

Well, thats assuming the f2000 is working otherwise it'll just be the latter interspersed with terminator quotes
