  1. So I have a tm scar h that a few of the parts could do with replacing, however tm parts especially for anything not m4 based seem like gold dust.

The most important issue to fix is that on of the screw holes in my grip base has knackered threads. I can't seem to find a stock replacement anywhere and from reading online it seems like an m4 grip won't work. Do any scar owners know of a grip that works or what's required to make one work?

    Thanks

Just had a full rebuild done by negative airsoft.

I now wouldn’t use anyone else.

I have rebuilt my own rifs for years as had 2 “techs” from shops work on them (ruin them) when I first started the rabbit hole of airsoft.

I simply can’t be bothered to do it anymore and frankly having seen and now used his work I wouldn’t recommend anyone else.

A decent air seal, correct air volume and a maple leaf hop rubber with nub means it now throws bbs at 1 joule as far as any of my  r/s hop patch rifs ever has.

I have an tm ngrs, even if he wanted to do it the ridicule wouldn't be worth it 😂

but bear in mind that it's airsoft, and there's a certain amount of magical thinking about the best shots, not the typical ones that miss due to wind, leaves or eddies in the space-time continuum.  There's only so much consistency possible when slinging tiny bits of plastic in the real world.

Yea I guess this is why I'm asking, I r hopped my previous rif's back when I used to play and I wasn't sure if I noticed a difference from a g&g green that I had flat hopped. When I was told I can get same results from an out of the packet option that didn't involve hassle when a patch sits wrong or needs replacing it had me curious

  4. I was out of the sport for a few years and now that I've been back for a while I've decided that I'm going to be building a dmr rifle and was talking to someone at my local field who mentioned that with some of the hop rubbers about nowadays r hopped barrels aren't worth the effort.

Is this the case? Can I get the same or similar results with something like a maple leaf rubber and flat nub?

I can do the r hop myself I'm just thinking that come time to replace just swapping hop rubbers would be a lot easier. The plan is to be using .35-.4s at around 440 fps

  5. yea i already bring a few 2l bottles of water with so thats fine, think ill just swap the plate carrier for a lighter chest rig looks like the weather is cooling down anyway. yea fuck having random people drink from my water bottle, even more so during covid times

  6. How unbearable is it? I gave last weekend a miss because I sweat enough with my plate carrier on as it is? My friend and I were considering a CQB venue but I'm concerned unless air conditioned that may infact be worse then outdoor right now

  7. have to say, I've personally never liked the look of the ak and its variants and always liked the vector, but at the price its currently at on the used market I thought I best come up with some alternatives as I'd imagine for the £500 or so id spend on the vector I can probably get quite a lot of gun. I went AUG because I like how they look and I saw a picture of someone who had the various uppers to convert the gun for different uses. As it will be my only rif for a while I'm avoiding a bolt or dmr just because its quite limiting in where I can take it although in the future I do like the silverback srs. Scar was also an option but I don't want the blow back system as ebbr is just more to go wrong and without going HPA which as much as I'd like to have a dabble I'm avoiding for now because I have nowhere close to fill the tank I also don't want to go down the refillable or co2 gas route on a primary.

@Skullchewer its such a cool looking gun but those mags do look so awkward 🤣

  8. So I sold up all my airsoft gear a few years ago now (which I regret) because people I went with at the time gave up due to work commitments and the spiralling cost then I found going alone just wasn't as fun so threw in the towel. A friend recently got in touch with me and said he and a few of his pals go and that I should come along, for the first few games I begged and borrowed to get my ukara but I'm nearly there now so want to think about getting a rif again. Previously I dabbled in all roles with an aeg dmr and bolt action but nowadays I guess I have a little more disposable income until the missus finds out. Budget all in for first rif is around the £450-500 mark, I'm happy to go pre owned and I also don't mind upgrading the gun. my only real experience taking the gun apart was on a vfc hk416 and my well l96 bolty.

As much enjoyment as my previous guns gave me I'm kind of swaying towards something a little different this time around in that I'd like an AUG or a vector something a little less seen than the m4 platform. My fear is that I've not seen too many, if any good things said about any of the AUG's on the market and having never opened one up I'm not entirely sure what id be able to change on the stock rif, the vector on the other hand seems to do well out of the box but also comes with its short falls.

Am I making a bad decision with going with one of these two platforms as my only rif (for now)? should i stick to the ole faithful tried and tested m4 type or is there possibly another viable option? I will mostly be in open woodland with possibly a little cqb in between however I can borrow a more cqb focused rif if need be

    Thanks in advance
