  1. Hey Adam I made your video about the WE Airsoft SCAR L, see here for it:
  2. Hi I haven't had the chance to compare the two. My mate had this one but in black: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/aeg/we/we-scar-l-aeg-tan.html#.VKc_WCusWuQ Which he bought from here: www.Airsoftarmoury.co.uk in person All i can say was that the WE SCAR my mate had was of pretty good quality with full metal upper receiver, ABS plastic lower receiver and ABS plastic stock. The upper is of a very high quality build with very solid feel to it, it hasn't got trades, has a cocking handle which when locked back reveals the hop up adjustment, it has RIS rails on the sides and a monolithic one on top, if i recall the rails were made of solid metal. The lower was made of a high quality and feel ABS plastic which in my experience feels similar to G&G ABS plastic (all my AEGs are from G&G) and the selector lever has a positive click when rotated thanks to a spring loaded BB hidden inside it (similar to most weapons). The stock is made from the same ABS plastic and swings round to the right of the weapon (round ejection side), the slide is extendible and also has a general solid feel to it. Batteries go in the folding stock by removing the butt plate with plenty of space inside for large-ish batteries, connection is via mini Tamiya. The Barrel is NOT a tightbore (and i can't remember the lenght) but it is a brass barrel if i recall, hop up unit is made of plastic and has a black no name brand hop up rubber and bucking. Mechbox is a standard V2 gearbox, it appeared to me to be well shimmed and had been through QC as there was a QC sticker on it (no idea what the QC involved), wiring was pretty standard the brittle feeling 18AWG wire, it is rear wired as expected. Motor was a no name brand motor in the handle (like any standard M4 motor) it is also a long shaft motor. ROF and FPS were pretty low stock though, i am guessing his was a bit of a dud as the shop we got it from was pretty pants selling pretty much crappy gear, it was dusty, messy, unorganized, old BBs lying on the floor everywhere, stuff said to be in stock on the website was not etc etc and yes he dropped £450 in that shop on that day for everything gun, BBs, battery etc. Stock ROF: around 16 rounds per second (RPS) Stock FPS: around 280 Feet per second (FPS) Pants isn't it! I was guessing a combination of poor compression sealing, standard bore barrel, bad hop up and crappy motor When gave it to me to tech I suggested to him the following: Tightbore Better hop up and bucking M110 spring Better motor Being tight on cash he went for all the above except the motor, in the end his RPS was around 15 (due to stiffer spring) but his FPS went from 280FPS to about 345FPS (with some hop adjustment), he has since asked me to put a better motor in it so i will be getting him a high speed one and changing the tamiya to Deans. My only gripes with this gun were the following from worst to least concern, these are problems that cannot be remedied using after market parts to upgrade or change things on this gun: When the stock is folded the wires from the tamiya connector (ie battery) going to the mechbox are visible and exposed, they could snag, split or break as they are cheap no name 18AWG wires. The butt plate is held in place with one pin, for some reason my mates one keeps falling out by itself causing the butt plate to fall off, we had to tape it down at a recent skirmish to ensure he didn't lose it. I am guessing that his particular gun was a display model that got fiddled with a bit and some one had lost the retention clip. The stock is very (read very) difficult to extend or make it shorter, you have to depress a button or lever and move it but its very awkward to do. The cocking handle when released feels weak and soft, unlike a real gun where is a short sharp CLICK noise, this gun sounds very poncy, that is because the spring that does this is a low compression spring. I was however able to up this using a mechbox spring and made it feel manly again but the spring kept dropping slightly as it was not centred and getting in the way of the cocking handle so had to remove it. Hope this helps you make a more educated decision, my mate is giving me his gun again on Monday to put his motor in (yes i know its easy he could do it himself but he's scared he will break it) so i might be able to upload you a quick review of it some time next week.
  3. A mate of mine has a WE SCAR AEG, the gun is fully metal and has solid internals though the motor used is a bit pants. Really easy to strip in order to get to the gearbox. Its a decent AEG and i can't really fault it.
  4. Sorry if this is late (2 months later lol) coming but only just read your thread about an hour ago. I know exactly what your problem is, what causes it and how to fix it. For you i have made an entire Youtube video just for you
  5. Because i was short sighted and pretty bad too as i couldn't read normal sized text such as a newspaper further than a foot way from my face i had to wear glasses, this meant that i could not play any contact sports like football and such as my glasses would get damaged. This also meant that the first few times i went paintballing with friends was an issue as not only would the crappy rental paintball goggles fog up but so would my glasses (double fog, yay), and almost every year i would have to buy a new pair of glasses as i would break, scratch or bend the frames so would stump up at least another £100 for a new set. So i said enough is enough and in Jan 2012 got laser eye surgery instead and WOW! no longer needing the glasses when i got into Airsoft my choice of goggles was no longer limited to can i fit my glasses under this or does it fit prescription lenses. Admittedly Laser eye surgery costs a lot and depending on your eye condition they may or may not be able to do it but i recommend its well worth a look for the long run.
  6. Don't worry about it mate. As other have said before UKARA is one a registration for retailers to ID people who play airsoft, you don not need one to own an airsoft gun or any sort. I bought my first airsoft RIF weapon before having UKARA using another legal defence (won't work in every shop but hey). End of the day its what you do with it is what counts, walking down the high street in your hand is likely to get you arrested, but having the legal defence of going to or from an insured airsoft event is fine
  7. I work in law and can tell you this is the case, 9/10 burglars want to break in undetected, take the stuff and leave without being caught. If they suspect anyone is coming in or has woken up they will always run rather than face a confrontation as 1) they can be identified (by picture or ID parade) , 2) a home owner is likly to be the living S**T out of them, 3) any tussle between them and the home-owner is likely to leave forensic (DNA or hair etc) traces on the home-owner which can be retrieved and analysed and finally 4) a lot of them are cowards and drug addled weaklings trying to fund a habit so would rather avoid the bother of confrontation. The 1/10 burglars are the ones entering the property with the explicit intent of harming you especially if you get up to nefarious activities and have rubbed someone up the wrong way, you don't necessarily have to steal in order to burgle, being a trespasser and causing GBH or Criminal Damage still counts as a burglary. Either way a burglar entering a home and stealing stuff is just a burglary but actually harming the home owner is aggravated which could add an additional 10 years to the sentence (if the courts were harsh (not that they ever are)).
  8. Hi all, thanks for the responses. I have completely removed the fuse from my G&G MP5 and have the GATE MERF 3.2 installed instead. I feel that with this MOSFET which advertises: Short-circuit protection Thermal protection and; An Electronic Fuse As part of its feature list then the original manufacture installed Fuse is a bit obsolete.
  9. I am thinking of removing it for the MP5 as its a pain to try and fit the MERF 3.2, battery and fuse all in tehone compartment, the M14 has space for all three and bigger batteries. Plus the motor for my gun was only £25 so can be easily replaced. Reading around some ppl say YES A FUSE is absolutely necessary and other saying MEH not really. But i take what you guys said onboard and will bin that fuse (really i'll keep it as spare).
  10. Try these guys: https://grabgraphics.wordpress.com/ Both the owners are personal friends of mine and have done excellent embroidery for my Squadron in the Air Training Corps. Though i will add that its only the two of them that work at it so lead times could be a while and they both work full time jobs outside of the embroidery business but its no harm to ask.
  11. Hi all Just a quick question. I have both a G&G M14 HBA-S and a G&G MP5A5 Both came with fuses as standard but i am wondering are they needed? both weapons have GATES MERF 3.2 MOSFETS installed and working fine but the fuse is taking up so much space in the battery compartment and being awkward to place that i am considering on removing them entirely. What are your thoughts on this? Please note that the GATE MERF 3.2 is advertised as having a built in Electronic fuse. MOSFET Info: http://gatee.eu/en/merf-3-2
  12. After reading this I thought I would add my experience with Airsoft Zone as they are my local Airsoft shop being only a 20 min drive from me Recently got into Airsoft and started playing at Dragons Lair Airsoft Site this year: http://www.dragonslairairsoft.co.uk/ AZ has a small stall in onsite during game days selling decent amount of BBs, Gas and accessories etc including guns, some of AZs staff help manage the site as marshals as well. So after getting my UKARA card from Dragons Lair i promptly (as in the next day as i couldn't contain myself) popped down to AZ with a shopping list drawn from their website. I was after a G&G MP5 with folding stock: http://airsoftzone.co.uk/airsoft-guns/submachine-guns/gen-2-tgm-a5-blowback-mp5-with-folding-stock-aeg-gng (but wanted one with a retractable stock which they didn't have in stock at the time) and a few accessories. The shop its self is situated on a small industrial site with free parking for customers, the shop has a small floor space probably no more than 5metres wide by 10 metres long with walls adorned with a variety of AEGs, GBBs, Shotguns, a small pistol cabinet at the back and a changing room, overall a tidy and well thought out use of floor space. Showing the staff my shopping list i pointed out that according to their website they didn't have the retractable stock version that i wanted: http://airsoftzone.co.uk/airsoft-guns/submachine-guns/gen-2-tgm-a5-blowback-mp5-with-retractable-stock-aeg-gng Can't remember the name of the guy who served me (i found out later its Martin) but he went and spoke to their tech whilst grabbing a few of the other items i wanted and returned later stating that they would cannibalise another of G&Gs MP5s with a retractable stock and put it on the one with the folding stock. Lo and behold 15 minutes later I was in possession of a G&G MP5 with blowback, RAS front hand guard and a retractable stock. They even fixed a WE Tech M92F Magazine i had suffering leaks free of charge and within seconds. Staff were all very friendly, quick to help when you need them, won't jump on you as soon as you walk through the door, won't push you to buy stuff, very knowledgeable in their field and will go out of their way to ensure you got what you wanted. Google link to pictures inside their shop: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Airsoft+Zone/@51.583551,0.173606,3a,90y,32.28h,70.08t/data=!3m5!1e1!3m3!1sMFE1L-MClFsAAAQJOGnKAw!2e0!3e2!4m2!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0x8918b27ce0ee10e3!6m1!1e1
  13. Just want to add to this list: A2Armouries in Amersham - easy to access from London Underground (Metropolitan Line), flexible on the UKARA rules, myself and a few friends got our kit from them using another exception other than UKARA JustBBGuns - Based near Heathrow, does some decent G&G stuff but also some very cheap two tone knock off guns.
  14. Hi I recently purchased and played few games with a G&G M14 EBR - S (the short barrel version) from here: http://www.justbbguns.co.uk/product/529/AIRSOFT-GUNS-PRO/409/OTHER-PRO-GUNS/2289/GG-HBA-S Though of course shop around and you may find it at a better price, i bought it from them in person at their shop because of Reasons (got it using an exemption other than UKARA). What can i tell you about it well lets start with the PROs: Solidly built (like a TANK!!) Full metal externals and plastic only where it needs to be Not as heavy or bulky as it looks IMO Superbly accurate out of the box Decent rate of fire Decent stock motor Cool cocking handle which accesses the Hop Up adjustment Mine chrono'd around 320 to 330FPS Decent sized high cap Mag (about 470rds) Very good and ergonomic pistol grip Looks the BOSS Reinforced gearbox (i have read on several forums that this is also built like a TANK too) Great quality G&G Gears It appears that all gears have already been shimmed Piston and gears have been already set up for good AOE, no need to grind down that 2nd and 3rd (partially) tooth I think the stock spring is about equivalent to M115 (but correct me if i am wrong) And the CONS Super tiny battery compartment, only just able to fit a 3 x nuchuck 11.1v 1450mAh LiPo Very difficult to access the battery compartment, need to undo 6 allen screws, drop front hand guard down and then change battery, of course in the middle of a fire fight not the best of places Muzzle flash hider appears to have come from G&Gs M14 SOCOM range as it does not have the true vortex flash as a real M14 EBR - S would, its a one piece part and although they sell a adapter it appears to be only for the EBR-L version Magazine can be a tricky to fit at times Magazine is a G&G M14 proprietary so you MUST buy G&G mags for this gun Cheek rest is a bit rubbish to adjust rear scope mount next to iron rear sights is a fraction higher than main RIS rail, you have to buy the G&G scope mount to fit full sights Tappet plate is 1) proprietary, 2) is very thin (about 5mm) at one point causing and inherent weak point and 3) made of a brittle like plastic therefore easy to break Apparently the motor mounting cage is fragile and difficult to remove but i did not have this problem as mine just slid off, no force necessary Stock Air Nozzle does not have a o-ring seal relying only on silicone lube to maintain air seal Cylinder, Cylinder head, trigger contacts and anti reversal latch is proprietary Lastly the gearbox for the G&G M14 is called a Version 7 Gearbox but its not a true Version 7 box, its actually a hybrid Ver 7 box using a combination of V2 and V3 parts. If you do decide to get the G&G M14 i will list the stock parts below should you want to upgrade it in the future. Gearbox shell - proprietary ver 7 hybrid shell Bushings - Sector and Bevel gears are on 7mm bushings, Spur gear is on 8mm bushings Spring Guide - V3 spring guide (any will fit) Spring - I am told its a M115 (but again correct me if wrong) Piston - Any piston will do (however don't get G&Gs reinforced piston even the one advertised of the M14 as it is a funny shape and does not fit well) Piston head - Any will do but i advise against metal ones to reduce gearbox stress, any FLAT POM will do, don't buy the domed (silent) ones as they require a different Cylinder head Air Nozzle - any AUG nozzle will do Tappet Plate - proprietary G&G plate, buy a spare when buying the rifle at the same time Gears - V2/V3 gear sets Motor - Any short axle high torque motor should fit Trigger contacts - G&G proprietary, G&G sell an already prefabricated wiring loom for it as spares Hop Up - full metal AUG hop up unit Barrel - Barrel length is 407mm, i am told it is a 6.03 tight bore but haven't been able to verify this. I currently have a Harris Bipod attached and recently got the Scope mount accessory to fit my ACOG a bit closer to my eye in a more convenient location. I run mine using an 11.1v 1450mAh LiPo battery rewired on Deans connectors, this is fitted to a GATE MERF 3.2 MOSFET which has then been enhanced wired to the trigger and motor. I plan to change the standard AUG air nozzle with one that has an o-ring and i am considering upping the spring to bring the FPS as close as possible to 350FPS. Hope the above helps you in making an informal decision with whatever you go for.
  15. Many thanks. I got a GATEs MERF 3.2 MOSFET and some Deans connectors plan to solder them on some time this week
  16. Thanks, I was looking at eBay and saw loads by Gate Electronics and did a few youtube lookups but still wasn't sure.
  17. Thanks for the tips guys, I will probably step down to some 7.4 LiPos when i can.
  18. Hi all bit of a noob here (this may be a bit TL:DR) First some background So I only just got in Airsofting this year and enjoyed it so much i went and bought my own gun without consulting much (yeah i know stupid). So I purchased a G&G M14 EBR short barrel from here: http://www.justbbguns.co.uk/product/529/AIRSOFT-GUNS-PRO/409/OTHER-PRO-GUNS/2289/GG-HBA-S I plan to play with this gun on a balanced basis and chose it specifically because i can switch from DMRing to Assaulting so its kind of a medium to long range gun which suits my airsoft site well, I plan to get a PDW type weapon to fill the short range role later. I also bought a harris style bi-pod and an extra G&G Mag. Whilst i was at the JustBBGuns shop i also bought some batteries as the gun came without any, now i always preferred Lithium batteries over any other chemistry so decided to go for some LiPos, theses ones to be exact: http://www.justbbguns.co.uk/product/504/BATTERIES-AND-CHARGERS/268/LiPo-BATTERIES/2461/WE-1450MAH-11.1V-LIPO Now you can't really read the specs on it from the picture on the website but its a WE 1450mAh 11.1 volts 25C, i also bought the correct charger for these batteries. Out the box the gun fires about 310 to 320 FPS or about 0.9Joules using .2g BBs according to my X3200 Chronograph. Thinking this was a bit low i started to do some Googling and discovered conflicting reports of using LiPos, that they will strip the gearboxes, burn out motors, cause trigger arcing, explode on you whist charging (i have always known this about Lithium batteries). But i also discovered that it can and should be upgraded, recommendations included shimming the gears, changing the spring, barrel, gears, motor, hop up, battery connectors, piston, piston head and a bunch of other things as well as adding a MOSFET. At this time i know how to strip the weapon to pieces and put it back together (thanks to Youtube videos et al), I know it has a v7 gearbox with a V2/V3 gea rset but i don't know what piston, spring, barrel (though research suggests 6.04 tightbore) etc So my questions are? Is 310 - 320FPS ok? my sites limit for fully auto is 350FPS so my thinking is that this is a bit low Will my LiPo batteries kill my gun? Are they too powerful? I have heard horror stories of LiPos stripping gearboxes apart Should i upgrade the gearbox? If so what gear set would you recommend? Should i shim the gears? Should i get a MOSFET? If so what brand or model The piston and spring assembly, should i change those? Also how do I make the seal better? I the G&G stock motor decent? or should i upgrade this too? Should i change the barrel to a tighter one or leave it as it is? Should i change the hop up or even go for an R-hop? Should i changed the battery connectors from Tamiya to Deans? So far i don't see an issue with the Tamiya ones. Any other upgrades you can think of that will improve its performance? TBH my main concern is that i am hoping my 11.1v LiPos don't kill my gun, and if it does strip the gearbox and piston apart too quickly then i'll know what bits i need, i am really looking at reliability, range and accuracy and consistent shots over ROF but don't want to kill the ROF too much. At this time assume that cost is not a problem as i won't be getting all these bits in one go. Many thanks in advance, i know its a bit long winded but i would rather put all the info i know here in one go rather than have to answer the individually.
  19. Hi all Always interested in Airsoft but never really got into it until this year when a few of me and my mates went to Dragons Lair for the first time, since then the bug has stuck. Currently bought a brand new G&G M14 EBR (short barrel) + M1911 GBB pistol to start, plan to get a PDW type weapon later What i currently got: Main weapon: G&G M14 EBR (short barrel) Harris type bipod Trijicon ACOG red dot sight (no magnification) 2 x Hi Cap mags Batteries: 2 x WE 1450mAh 11.1v LiPos 1 x Balence charger Pistol: SR M1911 GBB Green Gas bottle
