Because any potential buyer would have to bonkers to do a bank transfer & pray for a trouble free delivery, 🤔

Parcelforce 48, fully insured. I don't want to risk Paypal refunding the payment because they prohibit guns as goods. People have had this happen to them.

"Fully insured" isn't an option, parcelforce only cover to a maximum of £200, not £550, & even then its subject to them agreeing payout, which they'll do their best to avoid if then can blame you for poor packaging etc.

How you gonna cover the large shortfall in this event ? 

Ultimately, getting it to a buyer is your responsibility, & all contractual agreements are between you & parcelforce, no way in hell I'd not insist on PayPal payment only, & the rules have changed, Airsoft rifs are now covered.

Please prove that airsoft rifs are now allowed by Paypal. Where does it say this on their website?

In fairness to you, yep PayPal are still stating firearms & anything else "gun like", including toys isn't covered, thing is I've had 2 refunds previously, one an airsoft rif, one an air pistol, both arrived faulty & were claims I escalated & both settled in my favour (even though the sellers both counterclaimed, & tried to say the items weren't covered, wankers🤣) . 

I've just now contacted PayPal for clarification on their terms currently ?

So basically you've confirmed my fears. Paypal can do a chargeback and the money is refunded to the buyer and the seller has a free rif. Why should I take the chance? A disreputable buyer could, for example state the goods are damaged and they would get a refund just like that. Let me tell you a story that not many people seem to be aware of. Back in the mid 1990's ebay was brand new and handled their transactions through Paypal. It wasn't long before a load of ebay sellers refused to take Paypal as a form of payment because disreputable buyers were saying their goods were lost or damaged. Paypal would do their chargeback, no questions asked, and the sellers would have given their goods away free to, as you put it, wankers. So after many years ebay bought Paypal and the problem stopped. Nowadays ebay and Paypal are separate companies. Ebay still accepts Paypal as a form of payment, but manages the payments themselves outside of Paypal. No problems for ebayers. Paypal still does chargebacks unfortunately which is great for buyers like yourself but a potential nightmare for sellers like me, even without their ban on anything that goes bang bang. I've read warnings on another forum (Arnies I think) about using Paypal as a few of their members were stung using Paypal - they effectively gave their rifs away. I hope I've made my reasons for not trusting Paypal a bit clearer to you. 

 

And where did you get your info about only being able to insure rifs for £200 on Parcelforce? Parcelforce 48 is one of the very few services that are OK with airguns and you can insure them into 5 figures. All the registered firearms dealers use this for their live weapons and deacs. What you say about the difficulties of making a claim through Parcelforce is undoubtedly true, but it's true for all the postal services and couriers. That's the way companies are I'm afraid. Once they've got your money they're going to hold onto it. 

I get it entirely, & I agree 100%, but at the same time it's hardly reasonable to expect a buyer to throw caution in the wind by doing a bank transfer & hoping stuff arrives, either due to incompetent delivery services or sellers ripping them off (which I'm not suggesting you would) 

Hence why I originally questioned is it collection only, as its the only way to guarantee satisfaction for both parties. 

Regards to parcelforce 48 compensation limits, it came up on their website on the day I posted, maybe their are ways to increase cover, at increased cost, but the page didn't readily state that. 

As for your ebay/PayPal story, got a couple of my own that highlight the clusterfuck they're running, which is a minefield to navigate, all I can say is I've always remained persistent & not lost a penny when it comes to claims/disputes, makes me think it's time for a new thread highlighting this stuff & a way through it ???
