Supporters M_P Posted November 5, 2011 Supporters Share Posted November 5, 2011 the modern ones dont use susats, its the elcan spectre dr with a docter on toop with wings. also you'll need the vortex flashider, made by surefire i thiink. You need emags, we dont use stanags anymore bipod grip- tan ladder rail covers- tan not saying your weak or anything but make sure youre able to carry one first, they are reasonably heavy, especially with all the stuff on it etc, especially for someone your age
Hubert
Define 'modern' Do you mean current, or what we should have? http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/fire...s-l85-custom-od That's the current one. Seeing as how ELCANs are taking an age to appear. Hell, there are guys deployed out there who prefer using the old SUSATs instead of ELCANs (the few that have them) or ACOGs. But seriously, make sure you can carry something that heavy. Especially if you're planning on sinking so much money in to it.

MZKaleem
AFAIK it's only ACOGs while they are waiting for the large supply of ELCANs.
Hubert
AFAIK it's only ACOGs while they are waiting for the large supply of ELCANs. Yup. The ACOG isn't offical kit. A small number were bought for the Paras and Royal Marines in 2007 as an Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR). The SUSATs were on their way out, due to be replaced with the ELCAN in 2010 (hah, look where that went...) It was noted that some SUSATs were starting to wear out a lot earlier than expected. MoD buys a batch of ACOGs as UORs to replace SUSATs. That's why you can (and do) still see front-line soldiers with SUSATs in Afghanistan. There aren't enough ACOGs to go around (even the MoD realised buying 300,000 ACOGs and only using them for 4 years before replacing them with the ELCAN would be stupid), and the ELCAN is only just being equipped.
