Gunner91
Can't decide between them, was wondering if anyone had any thoughts?
Supporters Lozart Posted July 24 Supporters Share Posted July 24 From a purely aesthetic point of view, I prefer the 14.3 URGI so I'd say the AK74m (I've also been playing a lot of STALKER and Grey Zone Warfare so AKs are on my mind right now). Performance wise I have no skin in the game as I'm an AEG guy. Gunner91
Lyndication
These are both very different ergonomically and in terms of how you run them tbh. For the URGI it's a featherweight, aluminium, short arse modern carbine. You have so much space to attach tactical toys you don't need and it still won't be weighed down. For the AK, she's old dawg. It's a 35 year old modernisation of a 50 year old design. It's hefty, especially up front. Attachments aren't as easy to get going as on the URGI, but there's aftermarket options. Both have decent kick, though the AK wins it. It's a lot of steel getting thrown around, genuinely get yourself some kind of earpro for indoor games. The URGI is prone to hop issues while the AK is pretty solid. That said there's a million ways to carry an AR mag vs 5.45 AK mags. You can buy all the cool SEAL operator kit your heart desires. Real AK load bearing gear is hard to get because Ukraine and Russia are currently throwing the last of the Soviet reserves at each other. Prices on Smersh are insane given how shit it is. I personally lean towards the AK but it's not a svelte and modern gun, so you need to keep that in mind. Absolute tonne of fun though, and it's Airsoft anyway. Austeyr
AK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I may be biased.... But adding on from that... My VFC AK74 is deadly accurate, dead fun to use and is an absolute work horse. As Lyndication said, it's an old platform but you can fit picatinny rails etc to it in the form of handguards/dust covers and bring it to the 21st century with no real issue. The VFC AK genuinely made me enjoy airsoft again after being an AEG user for 12 odd years. The only issue I found with the VFC AK was after using it for a few games was that every other GBBR I used lacked recoil compared to it 😂 Edited July 24 by Austeyr ButcherBill, Gunner91 and Lyndication 1

If I'd known when I got mine they would up to quadruple in price I would've got more than 1 Gunner91
Lyndication
Yeah same, the price is ridiculous. Mine has been great so far though. Gunner91
H0bbsy Posted Sunday at 23:05 Share Posted Sunday at 23:05 I have a VFC AK74M and its absolutely brilliant, kicks like a horse, its very sturdy and thats reassuring as i do use my guns alot and they take a beating. After market rigs / webbing is still possible, just need to know what will suit you, I have both modern lazer cut chest rigs where I have just Molle on AK Solo Mag Holders from Warrior Assault Systems and it works a treat, but I also have a genuine SSO EMR Smersh Rig which the AK mags are at home in. Gunner91 Posted Sunday at 23:33 Author Share Posted Sunday at 23:33 Sooo just an update I got the URG-I ....I'm am in love haha 😂 first vfc gbbr. Had a mws like 3 years ago, but it always felt a little underwhelming 🙈 sure some will hate me for saying that lol. The recoil is amazing 👏 my ears ring after a couple of shots. Reliability? Not sure yet only had it three days. Seem bomb proof though. Accuracy is brilliant i find, slinging the .3s I've got for fun. It came with a co2 mag and a moderator. Pretty sure the moderator makes it louder? Lol. Haven't tried the co2 mag and probably won't. But yeah vfc fan boi for life 😂 Do plan any getting the ak maybe for Christmas 🎄 Baser and Lyndication
Lyndication Posted Monday at 08:35 Share Posted Monday at 08:35 Maybe get yourself some earpro if you're running it on CO2 btw. Especially indoors it's genuinely loud enough to warrant it. Gunner91
tobychap
When deciding between the VFC URGI 10.3 and the VFC AK74M, both are solid choices, but consider that the URGI’s shorter barrel and compact design might put a bit more stress on internal parts like the gearbox wheel hub bearings due to the more aggressive handling and tighter spaces. The AK74M, with its longer barrel and classic design, tends to have slightly more stable internals, including 29356 E bearings that may endure less strain under typical use. If you prioritize maneuverability and compactness, the URGI is great but be mindful of regular maintenance on bearings and gearbox parts. For a more traditional feel with potentially longer bearing life, the AK74M could be the safer bet. God I hope this is ChatGPT vomit because it makes zero sense.
