Yup, especially when some are almost £150 more expensive.

Wow,  the most I have seen is £80 difference. Best price I have found is £599.99

Raresoft preorder is £740. Which is mildly absurd given the other retailers.

If you want to really save money, the cheapest way is buying from ProAct, as its $506USD with free EMS shipping - so even after customs and parcelfarce take their pound of flesh it'll only be £460ish.

I don’t have UKARA any longer, and would be very uneasy about buying a complete gun from overseas with customs and border force being as they are.

You can't buy a new RIF anywhere without UKARA though?

There's an easy fix for it at least.

Many defences available, very few shops only take UKARA these days. I have Sportsman Association and it’s accepted in most shops, only one I found that didn’t was patrol base.

Oh right.

Chuck that on the import parcel then tbh.

I think that customs and border force only recognise UKARA, even with it there can be problems. I would rather pay a bit more in a U.K. shop and be certain of getting it delivered.

I got one delivered from high pressure airsoft.

Took it out for a bit at RIFT Blackstone today.  Got a lot of admiring glances, and a couple of guys test fired it on the range in full auto and all loved it...

I did have a small drawback of only having the one mag and one gas tank that it was delivered with,  and the output valve has a slight leak, so I need to look into that....   an overnight soak in silicone oil and a few puffs of maintenance gas will be first port of call

I had ordered some spare mags and a spare gas tank fron SOCOM tactical to reduce faffing around to replace the mag insert on the field, but they didn't turn up in time.  Not that I really burned through ammo at a semi-only site....   plus it's a bit bulky for the tight corners, so probably not an ideal CQB weapon.

Aside from the slight gas leak from the tank (which i kept on top of by topping up gas in between games), it ran flawlessly, but half way through the afternoon I packed it away and switched to my MP7 that was more suited to the sites tight turns.

Bugger,  wish I had known...  could have saved myself a bunch of cash.

Oh well.   At least I know I got it, and the customs monkeys weren't going to break it....    unlike my VFC M249 I imported 😒

Would not recommend the silicon oil soak. The o-rings in VFC guns are nitrile, silicon oil doesn't inflate them or anything like that. Has no benefit.

May just need to tighten the output valve slightly, or grease (not oil) the inner o-rings so they sit a bit better.

Wouldn't recommend oiled gas either, it gets sprayed all over your hop rubber.

Had a good look at one, not for me, heavy without the mag installed, with the mag in its to much for me, few have had a breakage caused by people slapping down the receiver instead of pushing it forward with the spring when they have the receiver opened up.

Yeah, plus it's about AK length. I think people play some video games and hear SMG expecting it to be tiny and nimble.

Haven't held the VFC but held a deac PPSh once and yeah, the gun is heavy and the drum really weighs it down more. The drum wasn't even loaded lmao.

Those Soviet teenagers had to have eaten their Weetabix let's put it that way.

Abandoned the silicone oil soak after your message. I did however try tightening the valve then stored for a week with maintenance gas and leak has stopped now...

i always store my gas mags with a puff of maintenance gas in them,  but make sure to purge them before use to limit any lubricants going in hop unit

I expect some people underestimated how big and heavy they actually are too

TBH I don't think it's that bad weight wise...

Two biggest issues I have noted so far (with only 2 game days so far) for me are reloading...   its a faff to unlatch the front plate and swap the mag in the drum on the field,  so i did need the pair of spare drums at an outdoor field where I could use full auto....

That and I need to get a proper period correct sling for it (either genuine or repro)  so I can run it as a secondary.  I was running a kombat MTP sling on it last weekend at the ollie talks airsoft memorial game at C3, but had to fiddle to get it through the sling point on the stock...  and may have to cut the sling off the stock at this rate

Had two marshalls and several players all fawning over it.....   until I mentioned the price...  and all but one player were impressed with it's rate of fire on full auto....   that one player being one of three birthday boys who had to run a gauntlet....  everyone was taking turns on the firing line checking their weapons were feeding, while the gauntlet trio stood 20m down range....

and then my turn... *BRRRRRTT*...  this one guy then shuffled to the far side of the gauntlet and shouted back "fuck that. Thats just evil"
