MILSIM Team London/Kent

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if you know of any London based MILSIM teams or more serious CQB teams that are looking for new members?

Ideally SE London/North Kent area as that is where I have been playing so far.

I am a motivated guy looking to join a small crew of slightly more hardcore players who want to improve their fitness, skills and drills while also making some new friends.

I am struggling to find anyone that interested in playing consistently enough for more than only a bit of fun.
Obviously fun is what a hobby should be about, but I do like to get better and potentially look more competent working with a few others in a cooperative and coordinated way.

I have recently just ordered yet another gun, my wife will be pleased! LOL

This time a sniper rifle to improve my distance shot and stalking skills, but I do like getting into the thick of it as an assault player too, especially CQB

Anyway if anyone has any information or wants to meet up, please comment below or perhaps drop me a PM.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

If you're the South East, I'd recommend getting along to a Defiant game - there's a battlesim on May 10, then plenty after.

The sort of people you're looking to join in with go to those games, so you should find some folks in no time!

Thanks for taking the time to give me this information. I will try to get to one of their events, not sure I can make this one sadly.

I tried FilmSim event and it was not really a MILSIM and really just a Skirmish which frankly I could have gone to anywhere, so was a bit disappointed.

Just from reading the Defiant game rules it seems a bit more up my street as long as it is run as stated, because I have been mislead this way before.

Generally speaking, filmsin tends to just mean restricted ammo counts and semi-auto only (except support weapons) to stop complete drum mag on an M4 hosefests. This is about as 'hardcore' as a regular airsoft site will run, as in the grand scheme of things milsim isn't that popular.

If you want sleeping in the cold, firing two rounds all day after lying in a trench - then yeah, go to a Sterling game or one of the more hardcore Defiant ops. Going to any walk-on game and hoping for this will always leave you disappointed.

The only place you will meet the people you're interested in is by attending the events and getting to know people there.

As someone who has played lots of big weekend events and tried countless times to herd supposedly willing skirmishers to events, don't waste your energy. Attend the events that would interest you, chat to people who are also motivated to attend and then follow up with them. Within a few events you'll have a better understanding of what you like and you'll know people who also attend.

The level your talking about is generally too niche to be lucky enough to find local people and those that are....have been through loads of people saying they're keen, motivated etc who just flake, so they don't bother. They bother with people who attend multiple times.

Attend events with Stirling, defiant events or one of the newer ones like Johnny big guns or bad wolf. This will mean traveling long distances.....but if you're motivated enough, you'll do it.

I also forgot there's Octo8 - they run events in the south east and they're a nice halfway house. It's two non-stop back to back eight hour days, but you spend the evening relaxing.

As others have posted attending games and meeting like minded folk is the best way on to a team.

In my experience, all be it skirmishes rather than milsim, teams who are actively looking for new members are usually doing it for a reason and the reason is usually bad.

A point very well made

why?

Because they (often) just let anyone in, there's no process so it's just a bunch of randoms with mixed knowledge, skills, commitment, kit, motivation and willingness to work together. Often worse they say they're one thing (such as regularly attend big events) and then be something else (the definition of regular becomes once a year.....or less).

It's worse than herding cats.

At least when you meet people who attend they're all motivated enough to attend, travel whatever is required etc and if they're doing that, they're often the type who will go the extra mile, learn some team tactics and work as a team member and not lone wolf it. Their kit will be a bit more squared away (from experience and motivation), in line with rules and uniform requirements etc.

@Emergencychimps covered most if it but to add to it those sort of teams are often "led" by some jumped up little twat with a napoleon complex who thinks they know it all
