Ruta96
Hello all, Hope everyone is safe during these difficult times. I'm new to airsoft and I'm particularly interested in joining some skirmishes. I know I'd first have to attend for 3no. Times within 3 months to get UKARA membership and to buy a one-two tone rifle, but would it be wise to purchase a two-tone for now (thinking CYMA AK47 CM028) and spraying once I've achieved membership. Is this acceptable? Secondly, I'm based in liverpool and would be interested in joing groups for skirmishes, but how would i go about finding a group of people so would be able to build up my attendances to achieve UKARA membership? (I know that we might not be able to get out for a good fes months due to lockdown - all the more time to practice) Any help would be greatly appreciated. GAMBLE
@Ruta96 👋 Welcome to the Forum, might be a while before Airsoft resumes! 🤞 Good luck sorting your gear and post it up on the forum! 😜 💷GAMBLE💷
Cromulon1994
That's not a bad choice for a first gun. Though I think spending the little extra on a cm048, which is a metal bodied one, is worth it to be honest. If you don't like it they always sell well too. FreeFrag.UK
First of all, I'd just like to say welcome to the forum. There are quite a few sticky threads which are worth looking over when you get the opportunity but I'll attempt to address your initial post and I'll also try to give some feedback. My personal recommendation would be to rent at a reputable site until you've obtained your UKARA as two tone guns can be difficult to sell and they often suffer a significant drop in value, even those which have been repainted. I realise renting increases your initial expenditure but it'll save you the job of repainting a two tone which will probably prove very difficult to re-sell down the line. As far as joining a group goes I wouldn't worry about it too much, some of the best days I've had have been where I've turned up solo. If you attend a particular site regularly and interact with the community you'll inevitably end up building a rapport with others on site who you regularly play with. Group dynamics are often problematic when forced. I'd recommend getting some games under your belt, learning as much as you can about the hobby, developing your skills and just looking forward to getting yourself a good quality first gun once you've obtained your UKARA. Unfortunately one of the potential issues at the moment is that we don't know how long the current restrictions will remain in effect and we have no idea what the fallout will be. If you are set on picking up a two-tone and you're looking at one of the CYMA AK's then I'd be looking at one of the metal bodied CYMA VFC clones which I believe are as follows: CM045A or CM045S (AKS-74UN) or CM045C (AKS-74UN Tactical) CM040 (AKS-74M), CM040B (AK-104), CM040C (AK-74M), CM040D (AK-105), CM040H (AKS-74UN Tactical), CM040I or CM040M (AK-74M Tactical), CM040J or CM040K (AKS-74M Tactical) or CM040N (AK-105 Tactical) CM048 (AK-74N), CM048A (AK-74N Tactical), CM048M (AKM), CM048S (AKMS) or CM048SU (AKMSU) These are also excellent options for your first gun even if you don't go down the two tone route, assuming I've got the list right. Specna Arms have also just released their own like of AK's which are also budget friendly options. Hopefully this is of some help.
Ruta96
Thanks guys for all your feedback. Really appreciate it. I'll deff look into the cm048 for sure. Gives me a bit of confidence knowing people went alone to their skirmishes so when we all get the go ahead I'll be sure to get involved. Allot of website I did check however have their items out of stock (two tone - just for the option to by without UKARA membership and practice), is there any commendable website youd advise for me to buy the cm048? GAMBLE
Good luck, getting your AK, good starting point with a CYMA version! 🔫👍 I’ve got my fair share of AK’s by different brands! 🔫👍 I have a CYMA RPK, which is a great LMG for beginners & Advanced players! Also a CYMA SVD, needs some work though! I went solo, nervous yes 1st time... still had a Great time though! 😆 My personal tips: 1. Find the right site for you and get your UKARA sorted, then can buy a proper RIF! 🔫 👍 2. Have Fun, getting started.... don’t need to join a team straight away! 👍 3. Don’t waste 💷 on a bad site, had my fair share of good times, sadly out done by poor players, marshals and undeserved rep!!!! 🤬 (If you need to travel that little further for a better site, do it!) 💪 I can highly recommend Patrolbase when in stock! Plus a few others.... Also have some Tips & Advice for AK Loadouts! 🔫😎👍 Stay safe! 💷GAMBLE💷
EDcase
Yep, CYMA is a good budget brand. Another idea would be to buy a pistol instead until you are able to get on UKARA. Gas pistols are cheaper and more fun to shoot at home/garden though you'll have to buy gas too. That way you can get a black (RIF) AK once you've registered with UKARA I guess it depends how long you can wait. Its looking like it may be a loooong time before we can play again 😭 Don't worry, I think most of us started by going alone
