emilianoksa Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Is the mock stainless finish available on the WE Glock 17 more hard wearing tnan the black, or about the same? Or worse?
Guest Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 It’ll be about the same I think bud. But if you want shiny, just strip off the black paint
Mostly Retired Moderators L3wisD Posted August 11, 2018 Mostly Retired Moderators Posted August 11, 2018 What RDB said. Strip the paint. Bit of brasso and away you go.
emilianoksa Posted August 11, 2018 Author Posted August 11, 2018 I've thought about that. Is there any kind of polyurethane or other spray that can then give the bare alloy some protection? Or does it not really need it?
koppel Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Polished Mazak/Potmetal tarnishes pretty quickly, 2-3weeks. The problem with a clearcoat is, it's kinda hard to get a paint finish to adhere to a polished metal surface, paint relies on mechanical adhesion to tiny microscopic bumps/ridges/scratches on the surface of the metal and once you polish those out.....
emilianoksa Posted August 11, 2018 Author Posted August 11, 2018 Of course. I should have thought of that. Strangely it doesn't seem to be true of cerakote. Somebody recently told me polishing is an essential preparation for this.

emilianoksa Posted August 11, 2018 Author Posted August 11, 2018 I was thinking only of metal. Pot metal but metal nonetheless. I'm told there is no problem with it.
