rounduk
Evening all, I've dusted off the airsoft gear and want to get back into playing. I am in the process of changing some parts on the CA M15A4, its the full stock version. I wanted to switch over to a single point sling, but I am not sure what my options are as most of the plates are for skeleton stocks. Any recommendations?? I don't really want to change stock, but I wouldn't mind if I had too; what worries me if I go down this route are my battery options? Thanks in advance! Supporters Lozart Posted February 2, 2018 Supporters Share Posted February 2, 2018 A full stock is going to be cumbersome with a single point. In terms of changing to a buffer tube and collapsible stock then a LiPo stick battery will fit fine down the buffer tube or if you go for a PTS EPS then there's loads of space in them. In terms of sling options though, Viper (and others) do a 2-3 point convertible sling, most of them come with a short webbing strap that is designed to go around the end of a solid stock to provide a sling point. You could use this around the narrow end of the stock which would give you somewhere to attach a single point. Or there's always paracord!
rounduk
Thanks for the advice dude, nightmare as I just bought two new batteries as well! Might just stick with the two point sling I already have :-D There are some options I've seen for real AR15's out there, but knowing if they'll fit is a different matter... Have seen a few buffer tubes, but even then on my Classic Army I am not sure they will fit, need to double check! (its one of the early versions with the Armalite logos)
Supporters TheFull9 Posted February 3, 2018 Supporters Share Posted February 3, 2018 Buffer tubes are fairly universal, I've got an old CA that's the same which I switched over to a buffer tube about 7-8 years ago when I barely knew what I was doing. The fitment on M4s at the back of the lower receiver is well standardised at this point and AEG buffer tubes can be had very cheaply from many places. You'll definitely need to invest in a super long cross head screw driver, about 30cm or longer. I know I had to dremel a little channel in my lower as well because the wiring loom on the full stock came out directly below the buffer tube; that area's obviously covered with a full stock but not with an adjustable. If you know any decent techs who already have the tools and skills in terms of quickly whipping together new wire looms that might be an easier shout overall. When it comes to the sling plate, anything for an AR AEG will go on there. Worst case the ACM tolerances might strike and you'll have to do a bit of minor filing. rounduk
Thanks for all the pointers guys, got it all sorted today... Thumbs up to Socom Tactical as they swapped the batteries over to crane that I bought the other day (haven't used them). Wiring was a bit tight like you say, but as the Oper8 sling plate had the right cut out it worked fine (would have been even easier if i didn't have a solder join there) Needed to go out and get a longer bolt to reach the hole for the buffer tube bolt to go in, but all good. Just gotta get my ass out and start playing now! Need to have a look at the local sites to me!
