Hi guys, I have just acquired 6 lonex flash wind mags and all of them on winding, the string doesn't always retract on winding.

Is it just a case of lubricating or something more serious?

Were they cheap and second hand?

I think you just found out why they were being sold...

Is the string tangled or kinked?

Little curly but not tangled or kinked

Does it go most of the way back in but not completely or will it not retract at all?

Once it's wound, try giving it a quick pull then let go. The shock should make it retract. Sounds like the pawl that latches the winder wheel is getting stuck.

So would a quick spray of silicon oil do the trick or is it a strip down job?

Worth a quick squirt into the mechanism but don't get it into the feed tube.

Well a fast pull on the wire makes them work fine, give them a little squirt of lube.

Thankyou very much mate, really appreciate your assistance!!!

No problem. I have an m4 flash mag and it can be a bit like that too. :-)
