Sako
Hoping someone may be able to help, I'm hoping to fit a shorter barrel to my king arms s&w m&p15 Moe, to mimic that of the g&p Moe, I have put pictures in this thread. Can anyone tell me where to actually get a barrel this length (plus inner), as a few suppliers have only offered to be able to sell full front ends (Inc RIS). Really appreciate any help. Here is the G&P I would like to copy for the barrel length... http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/create_image.php?i=5763 Attached is an image of the king arms rif I currently own (web image) Thankyou Sako
Supporters Liam Porter Posted April 2, 2014 Supporters Share Posted April 2, 2014 You'll want something like this: http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/gp-cqbr-aluminum-outer-barrel It's quite expensive for what it is, at £42, but you can find other brands cheaper, like the element one here: http://airsoft-club.com/shop/external-upgrade/outer-barrel/element-10-5-cqb-r-steel-one-piece-outer-barrel-for-m4-aeg Before you buy an outer barrel, check it has the same threading as your current one, otherwise you'll be needing a converter or a flashider too. For an inner barrel, any AEG 270mm inner battle will fit, there are quite a few choices, including standard brass, MadBull tightbore or a PDI tightbore. You may as well upgrade to a tightbore, MadBull are quite good for the money, but if you want better, then PDI are the ones to go for, and their 270mm inner isn't actually too much more expensive than MadBull, costing £30+ shipping and VAT from their website: http://www.x-fire.org/etop/05.html They're actually offering free shipping until 20th April, so now wouldn't be a bad time to buy (still gotta pay VAT). While you're at it, you could also upgrade the hop rubber/nub. If so, I'd recommend a MadBull blue rubber, it's my go-to rubber for pretty much everything. They're pretty good and give quite consistent results. As for the nub, personally I've never bothered to change, mostly because I lose them all the time, but I've seen a lot of people recommend h-nubs for better contact on the BB. If you're feeling really adventurous, you could install an r-hop, but they're pretty (very) fiddly to get to work properly.
dex
I could be wrong, but your existing barrel looks to be 14" and the one you want is 10.5". Google: 10.5 m4 outer barrel uk Inner barrel you need one around 240-270mm or if you want to save some money, cut down your existing one.
Sako
I actually already have an upgraded hop (mb blue and h nub fitted), I will have a good look at those options posted, thanks for the detailed reply. Out of interest, will this mod effect my fps greatly, or require a different cylinder?
Supporters Liam Porter Posted April 2, 2014 Supporters Share Posted April 2, 2014 Out of interest, will this mod effect my fps greatly, or require a different cylinder? It shouldn't do, maybe a slight drop in FPS, but if you get a tightbore, then that'll increase the FPS, so you shouldn't see any large change either up or down. Supporters Lozart Posted April 2, 2014 Supporters Share Posted April 2, 2014 I did that very mod to my M4! I bought a CYMA 10.5"/14" barrel (front extension screws off so I still have the option of a full length one if I fancy it) from RSOV.com for roughly £15 delivered I believe. No problem recommending them, never had an issue.
