It is possible, to an extent.

 

If you wanted it exactly like that, the only thing you'd still have would be either the gearbox or the hop unit. So it would be better to simply buy the SR25.

 

As you're just after something like it, you'd need the longer barrel, free float RIS and the full stock. The front end costing around £100-£150, the stock ranging from £25 to £50. Then there are other things like sights, small mags, scope and mounts, which could easily add up to another £100. You would also need a longer inner barrel, costing about £40.

 

If you want it shooting like a DMR, then you'll need internal upgrades to strengthen the gearbox to withstand a higher FPS set up. High torque gears and motor to pull back the stronger spring, and possibly a larger battery.

Most sites rules say DMRs must be locked to semi-auto - meaning you would most likely need a MOSFET to be able to do this.

Not sure on the costs to upgrade, and obviously the higher you want it shooting, the more it'll cost for stronger parts.

Yeah probably, although if you want it shooting to DMR specs, then you may need internal upgrades and locking to semi anyway.

Besides, it's always nicer to have an actual SR25 with SR25 mags, rather than an SR25 look-a-like M4, with Vietnam Era magazines to imitate the shorter SR25 mags :P

The SR25 is already locked to semi :P

 

All you might want is more FPS, tightbore and better hop etc

G&P kinda is. The gearbox has full auto capability, but the selector switch has a stopper on the receiver before it can get to the full auto position.

I think the ARES is the same, afterall, they're the best replicas externally.

They have stoppers but I'm pretty sure the fire selector has a cutout to allow full auto. Its then locked to semi by adding a 'standard' M4 one.

Oh yeah, same thing :P.. Either way, if you're getting an SR25 to use as a DMR, you'll probably add a MOSFET to keep a nice trigger response and prevent the gearbox from locking up on semi.

 

The G&P is discontinued (apart from their ugly Magpul SR25), and according to WGC, so is the ARES.
