I'm planning on getting the Ares/ASG AW. 338 Spring at some point in the future and I have it on good authority from Marksman, via JD-Airsoft that the internals are the same as in the TM L96 with the exception of the hop and barrel, which are VSR based.

Since I've never had a sniper before, I just want someone to outline the upgrade process.

I've heard there aren't many upgrades out for the TM L96, but will it still be possible to get it up to 500fps, shooting consistently and in a straight line? Or will I have to make some compromises?

Thanks guys.

Anyone?

I read somewhere recently that there are some upgrades that will go into any sniper platform, regardless of type or brand. Or at very least all the L96 and VSR series rifles.

Can anyone run me through what parts are what, what they do etc etc. I hear part names flung around all the time, like sears and I'm just not sure what any of it means.

ive got a TM l96 and was looking at upgrades and you can get it all from zero one, sears are what holds the spring guide and the other holds the piston and as you pull the trigger it lets the piston go into the cylinder therefore forcing air down the cylinder head.hence the names trigger and piston sears.tbh i would recommend the tm l96 as they are so easy to take down and you can adjust the trigger stroke and pull, realistic mag placement.

I'm looking at getting the Ares AW .338 (spring version) once I can find a place that sells it in OD in the UK (and can afford it of course). I've heard from JDAirsoft via Marksman that it's compatible with all the TM L96 internals.

I'm just wondering if enough upgrades are available for it to make it as good as the VSR series, as people are always saying the VSR series is superior because it has the most parts available?
