I am more willing to take a Tech word that certain brands are shite as they know what guns they are working on and how many. Every one knows how hit and miss Airsoft QC is. So people say I have owned this one gun so I can say they are great is not really the best gauge of quality. I will also accept that Tech livelihood is based on people thinking they need the upgrades.

I don't think they have a big enough reach to be that influential. I think comes down to Airsofter perceptions as they can't judge distance for shite so they think they are being out gunned by everyone. Granted you can make a gun perform better but people really do over emphasise how much differences in game that makes. I have been playing since 1999 and have never owned an upgraded gun ( other than cosmetics) and have always been able to hold my own. Honestly if we are going by kills I have got. It is generally because I got the drop on them or I took more time to aim or they were just not looking my way. trigger response has never been the deciding factor and if range has been the deciding factor I generally haven't seen them in the 1st place.
I'm exactly the same, never had anything that isn't completely stock, & if something went wrong I'd look to repair in the easiest way, a like for like part that won't upset it somewhere else.
F#ck all that chasing a few fps or a milliseconds improvement in trigger response, decent fieldcraft will far outweigh any upgrade gains in that respect, & its free lol (& no im not from Yorkshire or scottish🤣)

Funnily enough I am Scottish with Yorkshire ancestry.

Tbh I do love tinkering with my GBBs and seeing if I can push them just that *little* bit further, but it's mostly a tinkering thing really.

Airsofters have gotten so used to big lists of shit you need to replace to run a gun that you have to really argue with them to not fuck around with a gun that Just Works.

I am starting to think that I possibly enjoy working on guns more than I enjoy playing with them; however, I know what I want from a gun and I am happy as long as I achieve it. I don't replace parts because some YouTuber has said I should; I replace parts where an upgrade will help me achieve what I want.
