Who was your first?

France around 7th July 2005- an Mp5 springer and a Pistol Springer playing against my old man in the large farm area.
2006, Aged 12/13 Ambush Adventures Chobham with a MC51 purchased from either Wolf Armouries or Airsoft Armouries (i think wolf) and a massive Drum mag :D

I first started learning with air rifles when I was 10. My parents bought me a .177 air rifle for my birthday and I'd frequently shoot with my father. Then I joined army cadets when I was 14 and we did a lot of shooting there with actual guns!

In terms of airsoft, that was about the same time as I joined army cadets. One of my friends told me in maths class about the game that was "like paintball, but it all looks authentic and is a bit like Call of Duty/Battlefield, but in real life without being actually real." Naturally, me as a 14 year old boy was intrigued and so I went to EAG Worthing (now Worthing Airsoft) for my first game day. This is where I met Tom Andrews, who was an absolute legend but passed away several years ago, and rented an AK for the day. After absolutely loving it, I did the thing everyone tells you not to do. That's right, my first airsoft gun was a Warrior L96 (nowadays I think they're the Well L96) and I was happily slinging heavyweight .25 BBs about the place without any spare mags (bag of BBs and a speedloader was how I reloaded), or a sidearm for my MED; Tom basically said "if they get close, run and hope they miss" 😂

I pretty soon after bought a dboys m4 CQBR and a KSC USP .45 that had a leaky mag (I wish I kept it even as a wallhanger, it was such a gorgeous pistol!), because I realised that while I did love sniping and did tend to use my L96 most often, it's good to have something with full auto and no MED. This was also all pre-VCRA and I have none of these guns anymore.

However, the things that really cemented my style of guns were Call of Duty 4 and Black Hawk Down. Playing All Ghillied Up and watching Black Hawk Down as a teenager only reinforced my love of the m14/m21 and m1911 or HK pistol combination. The only gun from back then that I still have is the Bell 1911 that I bought when I moved to Spain at age 17. With my current level of airsoft knowledge and teching experience, that Bell 1911 has been built to be an absolute demon of a pistol now, and I have since moved from Cyma m14 (in Spain), to TM m14 with HPA engine (pre and post-Covid), to WE m14 GBBR with all RA-Tech steel internals and a lovely walnut stock. The more things change, the more they stay the same... 😁

Got dragged out by my mates to try something new as I was being mopey over the breakdown of a long term relationship. Turns out shooting replica AKs was better than anti depressants. Over a year I've managed to collect a lot of rusfor kit and replicas as our local fields are very multicam heavy and someone needs to be the opposition. Also managed to use Airsoft as a motivation to shed 7 stone and improve my fitness. Definitely need an M4 and some mm-14 camo next. Then maybe a grenade launcher. And some night vision. And a few more AKs.....
Well done, 7 stone is a great accomplishment.

first airsoft gun was around the late 80's and was a model kit of some sort of S&W pistol that fired 6mm BB's once built. Basically a put it together springer. I also had a bunch of LS model guns around the same time Colt commando, AK74, etc that worked like the real thing once built and even had some nice gold chrome ammo. I also had a few air rifles then including a webley tempest however I always wanted the Jackel Air rifle as it looked a bit like a M16 but never bought one.
I bought a bunch of springer pistols in Italy back in the 90's and by that time I had a few TM AEG's Famas, M16A1, AK47, springer XM177, springer MPL and a few others. Most of them are still knocking around but have had various metal externals fitted (Systema metal upper and Lower on the SR16 for example).
I think my collection is around 400 currently which is made even worst by the fact that I like to make them a bit more like their RS counterpart. For example i have couple of VFC AK74's with soviet AK74 furniture (there were 4 different styles of wooden Ak74 furniture issued over the life of the AK74 before switching to plum plastic and eventually black plastic before the upgrade to the AK74M), RS rear sights and slings. VFC made the best looking AK74's, in my opinion, and look ever better with the RS bits stuck on them.
I grew up reading Commando magazines, Sven Hassel and Leo Kessler novels and spending 13 years in the military and then 12 years contracting in Iraq and Afghan hasn't helped the cause!
I'd certainly like to see pics of your collection.
