This is wild they allowed mags in pistols if holsterd this was bound to happen

I played at a site in Kent where it was common practice to break between games in the field; mags out of rifles, rifles on the ground and eye protection off. I didn't take mine off. After the first game, some late arriving rentals appeared from the safe zone, locked and loaded. They saw a bunch of guys (us) and their rifles came up ready to shoot; lots of shouting dissuaded them. That was one of the worst run sites I have ever played at, second only to TWA.
That's positively professional compared to a cqb site, I can't remember the name of, that if you stood outside it in the street during a game day you could see the BBs whizzing over, and into, the road.

In 24 years ive never played at a site that explicitly said to remove gas mags from holstered pistols, as long as they remain holstered, nor removing batteries from guns, that would be a total faff (plus I've seen AEGs cycle when a battery was connected)
BUT
On any gameday you can look around the safezone & i guarantee there's someone handling a rifle, theirs or someone else's, shouldering it to look down the sights etc, & usually not paying enough attention to what its pointing at.
Personally I rarely even notice what other people are using, it'd have to be rocking horse shit level of rarity for me to give something a second look, never mind rushing over for a fondle lol
Too many idiots is the problem I think 🤔

Ultimate Wargames.

At Gunman sites the marshals inspect each player entering the safe zone and ensure that pistol mags are removed. This is why!
Ambush Airsoft in Southampton also do this, they will not let you enter if a mag is in your guns and you have to cycle a few shots into the ground before entering to make sure the chambers are empty

All of the sites I have play at do not allow any loaded guns in the safe zone and have had marshals checking as players returned. Most of them don't even allow dry firing in the safe zone.

Wow. Those new pictures certainly change the narrative from this being a 1 in a million case of bad luck to an accident waiting to happen if that were a site local to me I'd definitely be going elsewhere.

That scene is typical Hollywood bullshit of taking a true story and twisting it into something completely different and now all the idiots repeat it while thinking they don't need a safety catch. A from the horses mouth account of what really happened is here about half way down

Already knew the story, just me "mainsplaining" for all the idiots who cant seem to grasp that whatever the circumstances, generally guns don't discharge on their own (except maybe sig p320 irl☹️), there's usually a human component involved☝️

Was there any update on the guy who was injured? Hope their injuries weren't too bad.

Holy shit that's insane

In an ideal world you'd trust the players to practise competent weapons handling but we don't live in that fantasy....

Me personally, my Pistols are always holstered in a way thay the trigger cant be accidentally pulled.

Aegs and hpa I can understand the dangers as they can cycle without a mag in if its not cleared properly....

Gbb and bolties are your safest option, mag out, action fired, literally no way you can have an nd without intentionally racking it

BuT tEh DiScLaImEr......

Which I suspect will do fuck all if its ever trialled especially given the (spicy) test case a few decades back where it transpired that consenting to having ones testicles nailed to a wooden board does not actually prevent the person doing the nailing from being up in front of a judge.
The actual case was R v Brown [1993] UKHL 19, [1994] 1 AC 212 which was on the ability to consent to Grievous Bodily Harm vis a vis certain sadomasochistic sexual acts. My favourite case from Criminal Law (on the same principle) was R v Wilson where a man branded his initials on his wifes arse cheeks with hot butter knife

Indeed; to say that they were slack would be an understatement.

On a couple of occasions, they didn't have a chrono at the site.

There was also a crazy amount of non hit taking by the owner's son.

The straw that broke the camel's back for us was when we came back into the safe zone for lunch one day. In front of us was a "mate of the marshals" with a TM VZ61 AEG slung over his shoulder on a length of paracord.

I cannot remember the exact words but the conversation was along these lines:

Me: Excuse me mate, your mag is still in.
Him: It's ok; it's holstered.
Me: No, it isn't; it's on a cord.
Him: It's ok; I know what I'm doing.
The Lad: It isn't on safe.
Him, It's ok; I'm not going to pull the trigger.
Me: Mate, just go out, clear the chamber, and take the mag out.
Him: The marshals know I am not going to do anything stupid.

We go to see the site owner and explain the situation.
Site owner: It's ok; he has been playing for years. He isn't going to pull the trigger.

We packed up and left, never to return to Ultimate Wargames, which is a shame as the site itself is decent.
