My Vsr G-spec Build

This just means that even with hop off you are still just contacting the BB so there is enough resistance to stop them rolling out.

FPS increasing as you add hop is normal as the seal improves.

With your barrel you should look into 0.46 or 0.48s ?

Any stock healthy bucking will not allow BBs to roll out the barrel.

This is a good thing.

Crack on ?

A quick spin out in the mini for a socially distanced collection of an M150 spring from @Steveocee earlier today!

Had 5 minutes to swap the springs around!

I have the power!

Perfect that mate ?. The spring may bed down a little as it hasn't been used for a while but you're right where you want to be.

Just need lockdown to do 1 so we can go play.

Thanks again dude! Really appreciate it!!

Small update!

Stuck a Pantera concave nub in because I couldn't get a ML one from Skirnshop where I was buying the upgraded body cap heads from.

All bits in nicely, can't really tell the difference in space I'm shooting in.

Very close to buying a TM MK23.....

Might have taken my rifle to work to take advantage of the perfect maintenance shed conditions!!

I was hitting my 14cm pellet trap at 47m (length of two train coaches) quite convincingly with 0.4's but didn't bring very many with me.

Is that any good? What sort of range should I be able to hit folk at?

I had some 0.28's left in my rifle bag but they seemed to be flying anywhere and everywhere at that range. Might have to strip it down again as I can't tell if the hop rubber is fraying where the cylinder head hits it.

Is that normal? Or could it be damage from fitting it to the wrong barrel earlier on in the build?

Chuffed with how it's firing anyway, put a smile on my mates face who is big into his air rifles!!

Sounds good. Effective range you'd likely get another 20-30m out of it, especially with heavier ammo as well.

Wouldn't worry about the .28s, likely over hopping them into next year lol.

Sounds like it's really shaping up now.

Small update.

Eagle6 admitted that the spring was incorrectly advertised for the VSR platform so that'll be going back this week!

Turned my research towards TDC kits that work best with an AA hop up. Not entirely necessary but I tend to fire 0.28's in the garden as I've got 3000 to get through, so I'm constantly changing hop settings for weight and range variencies!

I wasn't 100% happy with having to pad the scope ring out to clear the outer barrel so opted for a quad screw mid height mount instead.

The eye relief feels a lot better as well so smiles all round!

Might also have a TM MK23 coming next week....... along with the usual upgrades and a DTD holster! Now I'm poor again!

Stuff!!

Still no weapon yet though. Hopefully at the weekend maybe!

Waiting on the last bits from Hadron to turn up as well!

Well I've had the MK23 for a week now and wow, majorly impressed with it in its standard form. Made a temporary fart flap for it just to see the effect and it made such a difference, even with a bit of black cloth tape over the end of the supressor. I've taken that off though as it seemed a bit too heavy duty and was noticeably effecting the flight of the BB's, got some lighter camo tape for version 2!

On nights tomorrow so I'm staying up late.

Productive night, game booked for the 18th at Matlock Combat Games!! Excited!! Taped up with partial effort, just to hide the two tone really but I quite enjoyed it and I'm relatively pleased with the result!!

Gutted, I'm in at MCG on the 11th. Would have been awesome to tie up. NVM maybe next time.

Didn't make it on the 18th as baby was in hospital! All better now though!

I've booked again for August 15th! Hopefully I'll make it this time!

So I have decide to go with a  60' Autobot, Pantera Nub ( spelling? ) , crazy jet barrel and an AA hop.

The rest of my rifle being fully upgraded is good until the stock trigger set explodes. So currently no major investment needed.

The guys at Skirmishop were very helpful and recommended the Flamingo hop rubber. But after researching, I cannot find a single review that rates them over the Mapleleaf.

So I will stick with the masses.

My next consideration bb weight.

I know the current meta, is heavy weight and throw it a long way with accuracy. Awesome!

When I used to snipe before my rifle got stolen ( Cries ). I ran only Maruzen Super Grand Master and I was a demon.

I need to find my sweet spot with range, consistency and speed of BB travel.

Doing the math, going from a 0.29 to a 0.45. It goes from 415fps to 333fps. A 82 less foot traveled in a second.

I have never run bb's over that weight, so while I know I am going to enjoy the range and accuracy. The slower travel speed to target is going to be interesting.

I couldn't get hold of a crazy jet for the VSR but managed to get one for my TM MK23.

The flamingo rubber gets big hype on the MK23 group on Facebook. I nearly put one in mine but chose the maple leaf in the end and it's what's in my VSR and I know it does the business!

BB weight, I've got some of Geoff's super precision 0.40 BB's to test on the 15th. I'm toiling with running them in my MK23 as well but I might just use my 0.28's up first and see how I go!

Only just seen this. Sorry to hear that dude. Was a good day. I gave up sniping in the AM as the growth on site was pretty mental. Had an awesome day on the M4 though.

So weight... on a 303mm barrel, somewhere around a .45-.48 (on a 430mm a .43 is king) would likely be better as it will match the barrel/piston ratio far better and the efficiency will also quieten the rifle off a touch as well.

Weight wise, initially yes it is slower however, a heavier BB carries it's speed better so loses less over time. There is a brilliant app on Android that calculates airsoft trajectories and FPS and it shows you how much energy you lose so yeah whilst it "sounds" better firing at higher rates, the heavier ammo is by far a better solution to shooting further. #lovephysics

As for time to target, ideally you're not peaking and ducking with your opponent and most/all snipers don't feel disadvantaged because of the marginally longer travel time.

Except this doesn't work like that in practice and makes very little difference. If you think about it, at 330fps with a .45 (about 2.3j/500fps with a .2) , in theory you should be making your 100m shot in a second. But you don't because the velocity *massively* falls off as soon as it round comes out. and it takes more like 4 seconds. Again, in theory, an AEG firing 330 should hit someone at 50m in about half a second, but it doesn't.

The faster the velocity of the projectile, the more air resistance and energy lost. Hence in practice, heavier, slower rounds retain more energy over distance and the velocity differences are fairly negligible.  All of which previous posters have said, but examples sometimes helpful.

Airsoft Trajectory Project  goes into this in way more depth and is worth a read if you are into that stuff.
