The 'What have you just bought' Thread

I want one of these, so I'd be very interested to hear how it goes. -
I linked a couple on eBay in my previous post. It depends if your batteries/guns have mini-Tamiya, or Deans connectors.
-
That's a good point, but not many chargers come with leads anymore. As the RC world is largely XT60, the chargers are just built with integrated XT60 connectors. @kristophz, you might need something like this (if running Deans connectors) or this (mini Tamiya). If you run mini tamiya on your batteries, airsoft uses reversed polarity, so you need to switch the pins over. You can use the inside of a Biro to unpin the connector (charger side only! don't do it to the battery) My last global warehouse order from Hobbyking took 8 weeks to arrive. I'd urge caution buying from abroad at the moment. The UK warehouse is fine though.

Nice charger, but a bit overkill. A SkyRC S65 would be a safe bet (there's no nasty clones of them) for £32 https://www.hobbyrc.co.uk/skyrc-s65-65w-6a-ac-balance-charger Or for an extra £11, you can charge two batteries simultaneously https://www.hobbyrc.co.uk/skyrc-t100-100w-ac-dual-charger Do NOT buy anything with an Airsoft manufacturer's name printed on them (looking at you Nuprol). They take old charger design chargers, stick their logo on, and charge you more money for them. And get one with at least a basic screen so you can do stuff like check cell voltages and internal resistance.

*Sigh* if there is a single factor with inner barrels that determines overall performance, it's not length OR the bore size. It's the quality of the internal finish. You can take a mediocre stock brass barrel, and lap it to a mirror finish. Assuming it's straight and true, it will shoot comparably or better than many aftermarket barrels. Hop units, rubbers and nubs have a much bigger impact on range and accuracy. Edit - Back on topic, I had these arrive today for various projects: -

That's a well-trodden subject that's been debated many times before. Let's not go into it here shall we? -

Well, this was fun. Haven't had keyboard fisticuffs in a while. We're obviously being trolled now though.... -

You did, right here And here Jog on back to Facebook with your two-tone specialised platform. Your 'knowledge' will be invaluable to the knuckle-draggers over there. -

Your 'SMG' is exactly the same on the inside as many other guns, irrespective of their length. That's the point. Your gun is not fucking special. Or in any way a 'specialised'. It's a generic M4 that takes SMG mags. That's it. -

Hey man, there are plenty of Facebook groups for you young'uns. I'm sure there are many on there, with their super-duper tupperware death cannons, that gladly agree with you. In the mean time, us old farts, who've dicked around with these things for literally decades, will keep to the belief that barrel length is not the primary factor in range and accuracy. -

This x1000. A NBB MK23 can out-range many AEGs and exhibit better accuracy whilst doing so - all with a very short inner barrel. Why do you think so many people are strapping 3d printed carbine kits onto them and using them as DMRs? It was proven in paintball many years ago, and also proven in Airsoft a number of times over the years too that longer barrel length =/= better range or accuracy. -
I'm sure if you get a 'good' pair then you're golden with Earmors. Another alternative to Howard Leights is the slightly more expensive (but slightly cooler looking) Walkers Razor Slim. I've not seen in the 'real', but apparently they are somewhat comparable to the HLs. https://www.bushwear.co.uk/products/razor-slim-electronic-muffs-flat-dark-earth

I Invested in a couple set of Peltor XPs for this reason - I was playing CQB at a (now closed) local site semi-regularly against a team (5-6 players) with literally bandoliers loaded with (no exaggeration) 5-10 BFGs each strapped to them. Within a 10 minute match, you could expect to be on the receiving end of literally dozens of BFGs. The noise was mental and literally damaging. It got so bad that some of us wouldn't play the kill house game (one team defends a small building, attackers from 360 degrees around it) if said team was playing that day. I think the refs implemented a 1 grenade per player per game rule in the end. I hear (no pun intended) that Howard Leights/Honeywell are pretty good especially at the £55 posted price point. I've not heard such good things about Earmors.

Yep, especially with QD spring guides. But the amount of damage it did to the GB shell was quite eye-opening. I wonder how many other E&L users are having the same issue without them realising, gradually filling their GB with metal confetti. Speaking of which, the ZCI QD Guide I ordered was a straight drop-in fit. Looks slightly misaligned in this picture, but that's the crappy stock Specna Edge spring I had lying around that I used for testing, brand new but kinked in the middle. I will be buying something of better quality shortly.

+1 for G&G BB's. Used to use them a lot when Z1 (my local) was still on friendly terms with G&G and you could buy them through them. I ordered some sample packs of Valkyrie late last year to test and they seemed good to me. Reviews are also very good. As they are a BB-only company, I'd figure they take quality control seriously. -

Air voids are fairly normal on lower-end (and some mid range) BB's. To be frank, why are you using Nuprol (well known for their quality issues) in the first place? I mean no disrespect when I say this, but you have a very expensive selection of blasters from what I have seen, I would have assumed you would be using absolute top-drawer BBs from the very outset. -

Never used Nuprol BB's, probably never will. I was chatting with one of the guys at Z1 showroom a few years back, trying to glean who the OEM is for their Blitz BBs. He obviously wouldn't divulge, but he did say that there only a very small number of Airsoft BB factories in Taiwan, and many of the big names have their BB's produced in the same factories as the smaller/cheaper/nastier companies. Much like Christmas Puddings in the UK (with only one or two major factories supplying every supermarket), it's all down to the buying companies' specification and budget. Knowing Nuprol, it's probably at the very lowest end of the quality/cost scale that they can get away with. -

I keep meaning to pick up a PTS enhanced stock for one of guns. Can't fault the quality of PTS' Plastics. -

Cool Beans. £90 for the genuine kit, a dremel and a bit of spare time is good value compared to Daves Custom Airsoft version - £69 for what is still ultimately a £10 ACM knockoff.
