  • Midweek question time! Battle of the bullpups: L85A2, TAR or FAMAS?

I agree England / the UK is pretty sh*t. :( Especially when we used to be big manufacturers and everything yet now there seems to be hardly any proper business or trade because we are so reliant on importing a load of stuff. I'm still sort of proud to be English and proud to be from Yorkshire too but I just hate how the country has gone down hill really, and the politics / more right wing Labour etc. I can say the Scandinavian countries are probably the best but as you say nowhere's p...

perfect. Nowhere's perfect like Duck said and there'll be a load of issues in other places we simply don't hear about from the media.

Anyway...yeah F2000s are quite shite looking

I'm still blindly patriotic and proud to be English and British. As you said Airsoft Mr_B.

Oh sh*t! JustBBGuns is selling the ICS L85A2 for the lowest price in the UK. I might actually HAVE to order from them...

^ This. Yep Patrol Base are great, they're my local store. Prices aren't always the best and neither is the range of stuff they have IMO but customer service and everything is brilliant.

    Thanks Ainsley & Ed!

Quick question to the forum: what am bestest gnu?

    DX115FALCON
    DX115FALCON
This wasnt meant to be a serious question (hence the poor wording). I think that Frizzle and H05t had the right idea.

But thanks for opinions on what the actual best guns are...

    Airsoft-Ed
You don't think I had the right idea as well...?

    Do you even airsoft meme?

I'm afraid that I do not Ed. Please explain

"US sends troops to west Africa to help fight Ebola". I'm now pretty sure that the US has no idea what Ebola is...

I have not come here to personally insult you, I just find making ebola jokes in as much bad taste as rape jokes, holocaust jokes and peado jokes, if you want to tell bad jokes keep it on sickipedia and not the front page of an airsoft forum.

    M_P
    M_P
Thing is, it's not making light of ebola or joking about that- it's a joke at the American's expense that happens to have ebola mentioned in it.

Monkey, I totally agree with you about sick jokes being kept off site. However, this isn't actually a sick joke. Its an offhand comment pointing out poor wording in popular media. That was all this was supposed to be. Ironically, it appears that I myself worded this post poorly...

Tech question: what is the easiest version of gearbox to operate on? Looking at gerting something with a V3 (SA58) or whatever an AUG has (AUG)

    ICS L85 :3

    ...Or gas.

None are particularly hard by any means, they are very simple in both mechanics and electronics, and they all operate on similar principles, just packaged differently.

the package makes all the difference.

Question of the week: G36 variants (C, K, MG etc.) or AK variants (47, 74, RPK/D etc)?

    Sitting Duck
Cyma 28 range - anything but the C, 28A I own - chuck any battery in stock etc.... - the others mostly req stick battery again, pain if you got a scope mounted. Keep it simple and practical with just some subtle tweaks/touches is my general feeling, maybe more important than some "different" or odd looking variations.

The Bolt rifle is neither an AK nor an M4- it's an SR-47, an experimental rifle designed for US special forces which carry out operations behind enemy lines, where supply of 5.56 is difficult and AK mags & ammo is abundant.

Another factor is the gunshot sound- an AK sounds different to an M4 when fired, so if any locals heard M4 fire they'd tell their local Taliban unit. I believe there are only 6 SR-47s in existence, and 4 are in active service despite mechanical issues

    Sitting Duck
well looking at the AIRSOFT version - ver 2 gearbox & receivers that looks like a butchered M4 to take AK mag, as well as stock & front end too - it appears to look like a M4 than AK setup. But cheers for info on this rare gun, clever stuff allowing to use/sound more like AK than M4

Well, Darth Space-c*nt is now destroying the universe on Steam... Goddammit why did I name my profile that?

    Cheers! :)

Is it true that posting videos on YouTube of skirmishing counts as being a film-maker? Heard from a few people that it is a good work around of the VCRA

    Moose87
    Moose87
if you can prove it, posting videos on youtube doesnt make you a film maker unless its set up as a business. but hey the VCRA is so vague then just being on youtube would probly work lol. but if you post videos of you skirmishing then surely the site you skirmish at would just vouch for you??

    DX115FALCON
    DX115FALCON
welp, my "local" shop run that site anyway and know that I actively film there (at least before I had to move for uni) but I'm not sure if someone like Land Warrior (also local to me) would count that as an exempt

    CES_williamson
my local just phones up the company for me and dad to buy guns from for them to vouch for us as we dont go as often as we would like well its more dad is a lazy sod! so we just get our local to vouch for us!

They will consider it! Apparently, if I can find players to populate the team and a site that will host us then we SHOULD get a team going :D

The up shot is don't be afraid to ask shops etc, the worst they can say is no. At best you get a ton of free stuff. If I remember we ended up getting our flyers and posters free because the company printing them put their details on the reverse.

Tbh, you don't need money really. You just need a club to exist and then arrange somewhere to play. Maybe arrange a discount at landwarrior or something and have members buy guns through the club as a means of not needing UKARA?

    NickM
    NickM
If its an official uni club you get certain benefits, although it does mean running it like a club. The money is mostly to cover costs really ( a team patch perhaps, they could be made for a few quid) and it helps to subsidise minibus hire and stuff when you start doing trips. Remember many students don't have transport but do have driving licences, uni's will take people over a certain age and do a volunteer minibus driver course. You could take the grant you get from the uni and use...

Based purely off my Facebook picture, my accomidation owners decided to search my room for "prohibited items" (IE: my guns). Thank f*ck I left them back home when I went down last weekend!

    Russe11
    Russe11
All you will need to do to set it up is get over a certain number of members. The more members you can actually get the better. Then when you complain about the rules at the accommodation, you are doing it as Captain of the University Airsoft club. See if Robert Gordons has an airsoft club, if not try and get them to set one up and then use the combined membership to get a local airsoft site to run a student game on Wed afternoons at a discounted rate.
