Holly Wallace Posted Wednesday at 19:47 Share Posted Wednesday at 19:47 Hello all, I've just gone through the process of my first gearbox shim. Everything's gone well, Up until I put it mostly back together, And check the fire modes. Single... Works fine. Auto... As expected... Safety... Fires auto 😠 So I had a look online, Seen all the usual jazz about loose selector levers, Wasn't the problem. Cutoff lever is in shape and the springs just fine. The selector plate looks to be in good shape. The cutoff lever is engaging the cam on the gear to the piston perfectly fine, (single works, after all) So I'm at a bit of a loss to what's going on. The only thing I notice is that the small raised level (shown red on image) doesn't move forward enough to engage the cutoff lever which'd stop the trigger from moving. The selector gears can't even move the selector plate forward enough for that, So I presume I'm missing something. Thanks in advance, And if it's something stupid I've missed, I'm really really sorry.
Colin Allen Posted Wednesday at 20:13 Share Posted Wednesday at 20:13 (edited) Safe is usually engaged via a plate on the right hand side of the gearbox, that is moved by the change lever and blocks the trigger from moving. The cutoff lever does not prevent the trigger moving. Edited Wednesday at 20:15 by Colin Allen
AK47frizzle Posted Wednesday at 20:45 Share Posted Wednesday at 20:45 As collin mentioned, look on the other side of the gearbox. When you squeeze the trigger, there is a part that rotates upwards in a curve. When you put it into safe, there should a plate with a knob that block its path. If it fires in safe, it probably means the knob is broken off or the plate isn't engaging properly.
Holly Wallace Posted Wednesday at 21:05 Author Share Posted Wednesday at 21:05 Yeah okay. I'm missing that part it seems. Thanks for figuring it out for me.
