Novaarc Posted Tuesday at 23:07 Share Posted Tuesday at 23:07 Hi everyone! I am completely new both on the forum and in general to airsoft so thought it best to make an account on here to get advice. I’m in west London and don’t know about any places nearby and don’t have any friends into airsoft so I don’t really know where exactly to start but I’m trying to read all I can on here. All advice is welcome about what I should be doing as a beginner from guns to places to whether there are groups I can join? Thanks in advance!! EDcase Posted Tuesday at 23:42 Share Posted Tuesday at 23:42 (edited) Welcome ✋ Have a look HERE for sites near you. The usual advice is to rent for your first 3 games so you can then be registered with a UKARA number. (So you can buy realistic black toys Ooh-Er) it will give you a taste for the sport before spending too much money on toys and other things. You'll be able to meet others and ask questions. You'll be able to see shooty toys that other use to get a better idea what you'll want. ...and of course do LOADS of reading here on the forum as most questions have been answered so its just a case of searching 😉 Edited Wednesday at 00:03 by EDcase Galvatron and Novaarc 1
Supporters Rogerborg Posted Wednesday at 13:17 Supporters Share Posted Wednesday at 13:17 Ahoy and welcome. Find a site, rent, and see how you get on. Bear in mind that rental costs cover a gun and support for it, face protection, and BBs that you'd otherwise have to buy anyway, so it's not as expensive as it might look. Don't spunk hundreds on a Buyer's Regret Starter Pack when you come home buzzing with adrenaline! Decent footwear is the only thing you'll really need. The other thing you might want to buy yourself is your own eye and face protection, although more sites are renting decent paintball style full face masks now anyway. And don't worry about going on your own, airsofters tend to be a friendly and helpful bunch and it's really easy to get talking to people. Just ask someone about their gun(s) and you won't be able to get them to shut up. Novaarc and Galvatron 1
Galvatron Posted Wednesday at 14:18 Share Posted Wednesday at 14:18 Welcome! As Rogerborg alluded to, one of the biggest mistakes we see new players make is buying a two-tone either in the buzz of having done their first game or right at the start instead of doing a rental. For whatever reason they sell their two-tone starter pack, they usually struggle to resell. Especially if you're playing in woodland or sites with uneven changes in elevations or tripping hazards, boots with ankle support are a must.
