WE F229 Mag Compatibility

Hey guys,

 

Hoping one of you experts can help me out with a query.

 

I've got a WE F229 and I'm struggling to find a spare mag specific to this model in stock.  I'm guessing that it should be interchangeable with similar models, but want to check in here before I buy.

 

Is the F229 compatible with 226 mags?  How about manufacturer differences?

WE is a Marui clone manufacturer (with some exceptions) so I wouldn't be suprised if Marui P226 magazines would fit yours. You have to buy one to find it out. 🤑

Given that the 229 is basically just a stubby 226 I would imagine that WE 226 mags would fit fine

All I can tell you is that when I purchased mags a few years back for my We F228 ( i.e. the non railed version of the F229), the mags I bought were specifically marketed as being f228/f229 mags. Which leads me to think that potentially a 226 mag may not be compatible.

 

But that said, I didn't think that the 228/229 had a shorter or different grip to a 226 (unlike e.g. a glock 19 Vs 17), so it might be something as inconsequential as the aesthetics of the baseplate.
