All Airsoft AUGs I touched had the stock made of ABS. I believe the GHK GBB has a stronger stock (nylon)? So, I was wondering if anyone knows about an AEG Steyr AUG make that has a nylon stock. Ideally from first hand experience (you own, owned, or personally touched one). Internet is full of ambiguous information and contradictions in this regard.

You may ask why... well, the ABS stock feels quite flimsy in my opinion and as someone who enjoys the AUG design, I'd like to eventually upgrade mine with a sturdier stock build. Perhaps one day I'll get a GBB one, but for now AEG will have to do.

Thanks for any comments/suggestions/ideas.

Both of my current augs are ABS, I have never seen a nylon variant.

Never had a flimsy feeling aug body tho. The AEG variants feel less dense, but they don't generally have a flimsy feeling. ABS is far more impact resistant than nylon, and doesn't scuff and scratch as easily. It's also far easier to injection mould with ABS as it's not a material that is prone to absorbing water, unlike nylon. And ABS also suffers less casting warping. As such I don't think you will ever see a nylon AUG.

If you are looking on a budget the olive snow wolf/JG models are about as close to a mil spec variant as you will see.

If i remember correctly, the Classic Army AUG bodies were fibreglass re-inforced ABS.

It took the wear and tear a lot better than my TM AUG's did.

Thanks. I'll be looking for that. I have a Snow Wolf and an 'unknown' ... Both ABS. I had to do a bit of work to ensure consistency. They're okay now, but I still don't feel good about how they feel.

Compare that against a Krytac P90, and you can definitely tell the difference in body firmness.

I presume the stocks are hollow and you could part fill it ( where there was no internals) with something, p40 maybe.

Yes, with care, the stocks can be split.

I've used Dynamat ( car sound-deadening material) on the inside to reduce the noise ( as the gearbox is essentially alongside your head when the AUG is in use ?)
