GBLS steel 1911

Saw this in production a while ago (a year?) and recently seen videos of testing: 

 

And i've always thought, is there a point to this thing? Market is already saturated with 1911s, plus it uses the skinny gas mags and not co2 which will struggle in performance. Sure it's nice n steel but I can't imagine seeing these being anywhere not a display shelf.

To be fair you hit the nail on the head in your own question, and that they are display piece only with some functionality to show off.    Maybe the manufacture thinks that there is a burgeoning market for form over function replicas for collectors.
