During lockdown 1 I think most of us went a bit nuts and made a bunch of impulse purchases, right? One of mine was the Cybergun licensed 1911 from Armorer Works with he stainless finish.

I have the Parkerized Cybergun 1911 OEM by KWC and it's awesome. I thought this would be similar. Sadly not. Where the KWC is rock solid and shoots fantastically, this one feels pretty flimsy and, as you can see and hear from the video, sounds like a bag of dicks.

I think a lot of the problem comes from the hop unit, which really rattles around. Unlike most of my other GBB pistols, the recoil rod and spring just rests against the hop unit rather than fixes onto it, which doesn't help the stability.

Now I've never done anything more complicated than tightening a buffer tube or flash hider when it comes to working on my guns, but as I like the look of the stainless 1911 I'd like to try and work on it to improve it.

I've seen some Maple Leaf drop-in hop units that seem ok, but wondered if any of you who have far greater knowledge of these things can advise a best course of action?

Thanks

Hard to tell without getting hands on but that doesn't sounds like the hop. More like the outer barrel, possibly lost the lug that pushes it up into the locking position. I'd send it back. Is there a lot of play in the outer barrel in battery?

Outer barrel seems fairly set when in battery. Hopefully the phot shows the how the outer barrel and hop unit sit together, and the video shows where most of the noise comes from.

Sending it back isn't an option now, sadly, as it was bought almost a year ago. Because of work I was away most of 2020 so have only just gotten around to looking at it in detail.

Tbh I don't mind using this as as a first go at working on a gun. I just need a few pointers on where to begin.

That's normal the inner barrel and hop is pinned in place by the slide lock does the inner barrel have a lot of play within the outer barrel when in battery? Few wraps of tape or correct size o-ring around the inner barrel to stabilize it in the outer will solve that. Don't over do it still needs to move freely, and not too far up the barrel as it can interfere when the outer barrel drops back.

Yes, the noise seems to mainly be from the inner and outer barrel when in battery. I'll give an o-ring a try on the inner barrel. Appreciate your help.
