So I have an ASG SR12 LMT Defender AEG, Running what I presume is a V2 gearbox. it has been left unused for years. Got some new batteries and it fired about 5 shots and just stopped. Every time you pull the trigger it make a click noise but no cycle. battery and wires get very hot.

I have removed the motor and checked that works by firing it with the motor removed.

I have reset the reverse lever thing.

It seems that after each reset you fire one shot and it locks again.

I am tempted to just take it to a shop at this point but was hoping to avoid expensive repairs.

either way you'll need to crack it open...

you say it fired 5 shots - how well or was it a struggle ???

if you was really unlucky the old spring could have snapped

(or other stuff)

causing it to now lock up

gonna have to open her up, check, clean & re-grease stuff

Yeah was a struggle for sure.

Took off the receiver and pistol grip and reset the reverse catch twice.

Never opened a gearbox before. Bit scared but can't fuck it up anymore. Time for YouTube. Is only a backup now I have a GBB

crack that sucker 🙂, those Lonex can be right f**kers though if it has the QD stock tube

The SR12 (as per OP) is a KWA OEM and long discontinued.

The Proline LMT Defender is Lonex OEM'd, but uses a different stock tube which makes it fine to remove the GB.

With the Lonex/BO Dynamics LT595 you have to de-pin or de-solder the battery connectors to feed the wires through a tiny hole.

(Source: I owned the Proline which was a doddle to work on, I also own an LT595 which was a PITA until I modded the body to feed the wires through the receiver stub instead.)
