Hi I'm new to forums so forgive me if I'm not posting in the right place etc... just out of curiosity is it possible to convert an Ics nbb m4a1 to blowback? if they both have split gearboxes I know I would probably have to use the charging handle for an ebb and swap out the fake bolt.  would it be possible to remove the top nbb gearbox and put in a ebb top end along with charging handle, bolt plate etc.. would it fit on a Ics m4a1 with metal upper receiver which is compatible with the Cxp Series if not why ? And if so what would need to be done ( minor mods like filing for example) not to be rude but the reason why is just general curiosity. Any help or advice would be much appreciated thanks in advance.

no idea, but all the EBB gearboxes I've played with are larger than the NBB gearboxes so normally would not fit in a gun that was NBB.

I would give FS a call, im awaiting a new upper EBB for my UK1R, hopefully next few weeks, as very little in stock.

I think its a little more work than just buying the EBB upper as i asked them this once when in store....i just cant remember the answer

Yer fire support was my next port of call was just wondering as I was guna buy and Ics m4 nbb as I don't go very often didn't want to spend too much upfront and was thinking of converting along with a few upgrades at a later date when I'm in a better position too

I've been curious about this myself. I've only had a look at pictures, but it seems the ebb upper has another bit on the top when compared to the original. The lower gearboxes look identical.

From what I can tell, you can do it, but you'd need to replace the upper receiver as well as the upper gearbox.

Just remembered, newer ICS have their spring release mechanism on the safety, it used to be a long part attached to the anti reversal latch, that was operated by the forward assist. So, you'd need that to all be of the same generation also.

-I'd be interested to hear what Fire Support say, they've always been very helpful when I've asked them about things like this.

Yer I noticed that it's like a triangle piece of metal on the top , like you said upper receiver job and maybe a new type of anti reversal latch I will ask them next time I go in there

Was just thinking if I just buy a sportline to begin with as there cheap then when I have extra money at a Later date buy Cxp receivers and upper gearbox that might work still not sure about the latch on the lower though. just a thought. Don't want to spend loads to begin with really as Iv already got my sniper and smg loadouts
