Welcome to the forums,

Best thing to do is to get stuck in at a game at your nearest decent site, some chaps on here are in your area so they should be able to recommend good sites nearby. Unless you can wear your service gear(I have no idea) i'd recommend picking up something cheap and cheerful like DPM trousers and a shirt(some sites have overalls for hire players so up to you really). When you hire a gun face protection is provided, and whilst it's not great it does the job.

Once you do have a game or two under your belt and you decide you like airsoft enough to buy a gun I would strongly advise against buying a two tone. As far as hiring goes it is a bit of a false economy to buy a crap cheap two tone gun that you will replace anyway to avoid hiring, not to mention removing the neon parts can be a bit of a hassle further down the line.

That said Ian's guide explains things much better than I ever will so i'd have a read through it:

This probably belongs in the new players and arrivals section but it's not the end of the world.

Welcome to the forums.

As mentioned above, Ian's guide is great, there is also some other useful information in the sticky topics of this category (New Players & Arrivals, which I've moved this topic to). Other than that I would recommend browsing the forum and other new player threads. You'll soon start picking up a lot.

depending on where in Surrey you are, try EAG Gatwick, is a woodland site and welcomes new players. I imagine you will probs wear your army kit at least to start with which will be more than up to the task of airsoft (I used Navy issue kit to start with as am an ex submariner).

Try the game with a hire gun to start with to see if you like it, then once you are hooked and have done ya minimum time, apply for your UKARA and get spending on guns! :D
