Yours is a common theme.

If you go to a local skirmish and chat to people, Airsofters are very welcoming, especially if you show interest in their guns.

Sniping is a bit of a specialised thing. Nothing wrong with wanting to do it, but you would be well advised to play a few games and rent normal guns to gain a bit of experience of the game and the way its played before choosing the sniper route.

Welcome mate, you'll never find anything better to do with your weekends!

I've got a personal distaste for the G36 platform's aesthetics but I do know they have a reputation for accuracy over comparable-value M4's/AKs, something about the inner barrel being better supported within the outer. I'd say my experience handling the weapon backs that up.

I'd like to say though that while everyone will steer you away from sniping (and for good reason - with a cheap, stock sniper you'll be at a serious disadvantage firepower-wise), if you're real passionate and have some money to burn then by all means do some research and buy a cheap sniper! You're gonna have to overhaul the internals in order to make it competitive anyway, but some of the best snipers come from dirt-cheap base guns and - if you're prepared to make some mistakes and pay for them - bolt-action springers are nice and simple and a good introduction to the innards of a weapon and installing compression mods (and solid compression is always a good thing)

Finally, take some time to learn the laws pertaining to your new time-sink. Last thing you want is Johnny Law pinching your new pride and joy!

I left Blackpool back in the mid 80's mate - it's my hometown so, on some level, I still have a little affection for the place, but generally speaking, whenever I've been back it has confirmed my decision as a good one! Anyway Airbana is the place to look for what's going on near to you and here is my guide to starting out without wasting money.

Welcome to the forums and the sport/hobby. Take out your wallet, adopt a soothing tone of voice and say, "There there, don't worry. It'll all be all right. Honest..." and give it a reassuring kiss
