Supporters Lozart Posted August 20, 2013 Supporters Share Posted August 20, 2013 See what I did there? Anyhoo I have a TM M4A1 which is fine and dandy in general but I'm wondering what my options are regarding RAS kits. I've been looking at them for the main purpose of having a bit more mounting space that I currently have (I fitted a rail to the underside of the handguard) and to rid myself of the hideous squeaky plastic handguard itself. I currently use an Element M600C Scout light which does a fantastic job of stripping paint and destroying retinas at 100 yards but the pressure pad wire leaves me with very little space for a vertical foregrip (currently using a Guarder chunky monkey with the pressure pad lodged neatly down the side) so I'm thinking I have two options: 1) buy an element m910A style combined foregrip/light which has the added advantage of little nav lights or fit a RAS handguard which then means I'll have no room for the battery which will force me to adopt the use of a PEQ box but means I can continue to use the Scout light and grip (which is aces by the way - I have enormous hands so most grips feel like pipe cleaners to me). I guess the burning questions are these - are the D-Boys RAS handguards any good and if so will they fit the delta ring/handguard cap on a TM M4A1, is there an alternative RAS guard that DOES let you fit the battery (and a MOSFET too BTW) inside and thus keep the rails free for all sorts of tactical sporks and the like? Cheers chaps!

Cheers for that, most informative. Did you need to change the delta ring in the end? If so, what did you go for? I totally sympathise with where you were with it though. It's a gerat gun that I picked up for very little cash off a friend so I'm happy to splash a bit on it to go tacticool just not sure what will and wont fit that damn delta ring! I've bought the Magpul guard and the front end doesn't seem to want to fit into the original cap!

I found a King Arms metal cap and ordered it off FS in the end. T'was only £12. While we're at it, how did you get on fitting the Madbull hop? Does the one piece unit cause any issues with disassembly?
Supporters jcheeseright Posted August 30, 2013 Supporters Share Posted August 30, 2013 none at all, though fitting it with a standard plastic receiver causes it's own set of problems, you need to chop out the part which holds the original hop unit so the magwell is completely free from obstruction. means a full take down unfortunately! Supporters Lozart Posted August 31, 2013 Author Supporters Share Posted August 31, 2013 Ah yeah, forgot you changed the lower receiver too!
