DreamWeaver
Noooooooo, I received a tactical pistol grip today (http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/Cyma-AK-Tactical-Grip_A12XPU.aspx#.UZzQbbW20us) Love the grip it feels great to hold while on the gun, one problem i have though is that the screw isn't long enough to reach through the hole in the grip to the bottom of the motor cage, i'm planning on obviously just finding a longer screw but was wandering does that screw have anything to do with say, motor height? or is it just there to keep the grip held on? Zak Da Mack
The screw you can see at the bottom of the grip adjusts the motor height, the screws which hold the pistol grip are at the top, inside of the grip
Supporters Ian_Gere Posted May 22, 2013 Supporters Share Posted May 22, 2013 No that's not correct, Zak. On this type of CYMA AK grip anyway. It does just hold the grip on. I'm surprised the bolt isn't long enough. Are you sure you've got the grip all the way on at the top? Another possibility is that it's the wrong grip. Some CYMA AK's have a diagonal bit of receiver that thhe grip fits into, but some newer ones don't. If the grip is for the newer type receiver and you're putting it on a TM clone or older CYMA it will be about a centimeter too long...
DreamWeaver
It's one of the new VFC clones the cm.045, the grip seems to fit on fine its a little tight pushing it down onto the motor cage but otherwise is fine. It eliminates the wobble i'm getting from the stock grip which was my biggest reason for changing it but yeah, theres about 3mm of space between the bottom of the motor cage and grip and its just enough for the screw to only be able to touch the hole and not fit into it Now i know its just to hold it though i can just find a screw with similar thread and get it in. Supporters Ian_Gere Posted May 23, 2013 Supporters Share Posted May 23, 2013 Well, the CYMA gearbox bolts and the one that holds the fire selector lever on are standard metric threads so you shouldn't have any problems.
DreamWeaver
Okay my new screws came and i now have the grip secured onto my aks74u and it looks great imo. My only problem now is i ordered this ris http://www.crw-airsoft.com/ak74u-rail-m83u-1546-p.asp and it doesn't fit, i think it relies on the AEG having a fake gas block/tube because it just won't fit on in any secure fashion. I've been looking into getting http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CYMA-Aluminum-Handguard-For-AK74U-Series-CYMA-C114-/300912334687?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item460fc5d75f because it looks like those fittings that come with it are to attach it onto the outer barrel which would work, i think. Does anyone have any input? There is practically no documentation for people making sopmod style ak's so this is turning into trial and error
DreamWeaver
Ahhhhh, theres a fake gas tube thing screwed onto the upper hand guard i just took it off and got it to fit into the ris, now its fit and secure.. it doesn't look straight though, what do you guys think? The ak lower being slanted and the RIS being straight doesn't help things.
bigshep
Nope it does not look straight. BTW what the f is it with that hosting site that has porn adverts all over it?
DreamWeaver
Hahah i see it on my phone, i have adblock on my computer so i don't see them. Dirty ladies for everyone! Btw the thumbnails look really unstraight some optical illusion going on there if you havnt seen the full size photo yet it doesn't look anywhere near as bad
bigshep
The front of the ris looks about 3-4mm higher than the back, not that bad to be honest and would probably not bother me enough to change it as I can adjust a RDS to compensate.
Supporters Ian_Gere Posted June 3, 2013 Supporters Share Posted June 3, 2013 I'm pretty sure it would bug me. I is there any way to put something like tiny washers on the bots that hod the upper and lower parts together, just at the back? if you make the whole RIS slightly trapezoid it may look better... DreamWeaver
There is no bolts holding the thing together lol, tbh i dont think its supposed to fit on my model i might sell it on and pick up the more expensive version later
JRTIGHE
Did you get stung by customs/did they check your defense when you imported from Poland?
DreamWeaver
Its impossible to be 'stung' in the traditional sense when importing from poland, since they are within the EU taxes have already been paid and therefore nothing extra can be charged by customs. I guess they could hold it while they check your defense. If they even bother once they see the clearly printed ukara details, i'm sure they know what it means. But in my case no, it went straight from germany to my local hub and then to my door with no hiccups.
