Before everyone and their significant others chime in and tell you to get an M4, I'll say that before you buy, you should try a few AEGs out. Even if you can only shoulder them and operate the fire selector and mag release. You're best bet would be to try an AK variant, an M4 (or any AR15 variant), a G36c, and a bullpup of some kind like an L85 or Steyr AUG. Until you try, you'll not know what fits your arm length (affects shouldering), neck length (affects sighting,) and hand shape (affects how well the controls suit you).

I wouldn't spend £54 on an MP7 (or any gun, except for a Palco C02 USP) The only good MP7s I've seen are £199.99.

£150's the minimum you want to spend really, you can gets lots of Sportline (beginner) guns for that amount.

As Ian said, definitely try to get to a local airsoft shop and try some out, how to they feel, and some places like Patrol Base have a small shooting range too.

For example, I'd never held a FA-MAS or Tavor AR-21, but when I held the FA-MAS I just didn't like the feel of it and obviously you don't want a gun that doesn't feel right for you or is the wrong size.

Personally I really like Steyr AUGs and there's a Classic Army (that's the manafacturer) AUG A2 for £150 and I think it comes with a starter pack (battery + charger etc) However, take note that batteries that come with a gun are usually bad.

Obviously I'm not telling you to buy an AUG.

There are also AKs and MP5s and M4/M16s that are around that price.

IF YOU CAN'T GET TO A SHOP if you go to a skirmish site then you can ask if you can hold somebody's gun.

Most of the time they will actually let you, and don't feel awkward or something asking them because everybody in the airsofting community are really friendly and helpful to newbies (like me).

yes defo try before you buy just wondering if your over 18 do you have your defence sorted yet so you can buy a rif? if not then try and use a dioffernt style of hire gun each time you hire for your 3 games while you get your ukara sorted ( i say ukara as its the easiest to obtain (also cheapest) and most widely accepted if your local site is like mine you should be able to try atleast an a.k,g36 and m16 style of aeg but if you see something like a famas aug etc then go over and ask the owner about his gun us airsofters love to rant about our guns (as ians sig shows :P ) then explain how ur looking to buy your first rif and ask if you could see how it feels.

is the mp7 second hand ? or is it a springer cuz unless your ordering it from the states theres no way you should find a gbb m97 for that sort of cash (if you do order from the states you also have to add shipping and import tax ontop which would then only saver you about £30 at most).

also when you do finaly buy shop around for the bits you need i.e gun from fire-support batterys from component shop mags from tactical kit etc and look for the best deals because price varies hugely from site to site.

for example i got 2 batterys and a charger from www.component-shop.co.uk for the same price one battery would have cost me on fire support ( and it was the same bettery
