how does UKARA work?

Hello have few questions about UKARA, I checked the topic about most questions asked about it but couldnt find the one I wanted, basically, I know that after 3 games you can register to it and then have legal right to buy a non-two toned airsoft but, 1st, How do they know you have done 3 matches? do you get some paper after a skirmish? 2nd, Do you have to pay anything to keep the UKARA license or keep playing airsoft so it wont expire or something like this?

Thank you!

And sorry if they were asked already, I searched but couldnt find anything.

All the information is on the UKARA site:- www.ukara.org.uk

You can download the player application form from there with instructions / requirements for registration.

For UKARA registration your 3 games must btt at approved game sites as shown in this list:-

http://www.ukara.org.uk/approved-gamesites.htm

You do not have to register with the UKARA in order to by RIFs - it just makes it simpler. Without UKARA you just have to prove to the seller that you have completed your 3 skirmishes over not less than 2 months (and that you are over 18 obviously).

Okay thanks! just a last thing, if you have the UKARA, how will the retailer know you have one? do you have to send something to them before buying?

Have you visited the UKARA website? This is an extract from the player registration form:-

"Please complete the form , get the game site to which you are a member of to validate

it, make sure they have stamped and signed it, and post it to any Airsoft retailer

listed under the UKARA scheme when making your next Airsoft Order a list of

retailers is available at http://www.ukara.org.uk"

Once you have your registration number you can quote it to any UKARA registered retailer and they can then check it on the database.

i still would like to know how the site you play at knows you've played 3 games? do they remember or have it on system?

Each site will have their own system - usually you book in advance rather than just turn up on the day and then they have a record of you for that day. If you fail to turn up they will note that and may ask for a deposit the next time you book.

I would guess that for insurance purposes they have to record the name of all players anyway. You can always help your local site by keeping your own note of the dates you played.

IOf you play at lots of different sites then just keep a notebook and ask the site to stamp and sign it so that you have a record of your skirmishes - that could also be used as a defence.

But the thing is, you download that application, go to a skirmish once per month if I am not wrong, they stamp it and if you have 3 where do you send it to? UKARA or retailers? Its kinda confusing to be honest, as well can you start getting stamps even at age 17 and then when you have 18 and 3 stamps of one per month skirmish can you send it when you get to be 18?

What is confusing? It says on the form that you post it to any Airsoft retailer :-

retailers is available at http://www.ukara.org.uk"

Not sure if you can collect signatures before you are 18 but a call to your local site or to the UKARA will give you tyhe answer.

O' course you can do the games before you're 18, the law restricts the age of buying the guns, not gaining a defence in order to buy the guns.

Firstly, some points to note.

UKARA does NOT confer a legal RIGHT to do anything. UKARA is a form of defence for the retailer against a conviction under the VCRA for selling a Realistic Imitation Firearm. It might sound pedantic, but it's an important difference!

All the information about the mechanics of becoming UKARA registered is on their site.

UKARA is NOT the only form of defence. The only thing you need to do is persuade the seller that you can provide them with a defence that will be accepted in a court of law if necessary. This could be in the form of some form of documentary evidence that you take part in one of the activities allowed as a defence, for example receipts from skirmishing sites for events, or membership at a site that's not UKARA registered. There are many different forms the defence can take.
