Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted June 11, 2012 Supporters Share Posted June 11, 2012 I'm in the process of making my M16 worth owning, which involves me fitting an ASCU to it, among other things. Since the ASCU removes the anti-reversal latch and relies solely on the cut off of power to stop the gears from spinning I'm going to need a stiff as sh*t motor so that the gears will stop immediately once the power is cut, otherwise I could end up with the gears continuing to spin into the next cycle and if I fire again once they start spinning back to a neutral position then I figure I'm going to f*ck a lot of sh*t up. Kinda like putting a car in reverse whilst going 70mph. So, will the stock G&P M120 motor I have, be good enough for use with the ASCU? Or will I need to upgrade it? As it stands I can spin it with my hands without any difficulty at all, so I figure I will need to get something better. What do you recommend, where do I get it from (UK please) and what sort of cost am I looking at? Cheers. Edit: Would upgrading a motor offer any sort of improved trigger response time? If the magnets are more powerful then surely the motor ought to spin faster with the same applied voltage and current, meaning the gun ought to respond faster upon pulling the trigger. However, I don't imagine that you'll be able to find a motor intended for use in an AEG that you can't easily spin with your fingers. Apart from anything else, there would be no load on the motor against which you would be working (ie turning the motor and it acting as a dynamo). Dunno what a ASCU is right now so I'm off to dogpile it and see what you're on about... I take it that this is the correct beastie? I think that the anti-reversal latch becomes surplus to requirements because the system detects when the motor has to work harder to pull the spring and the point of release and then stops further gear spinning.
