oh that is LOVELY! Pretty much exactly what I will be going for, except in silver & black.
I guess you got the trades engraved?
Certainly did, Jack Acaster of Airsoft Engraver is the man to see. He might even still have my files for you to use?

I’ve used Jack before, good to know he has the files!

Mine will be a while in the making, I’ve got the CTM lower now and will be ordering the outer barrel soon, not sure if I can stomach the cost of the CNC upper yet!

I've been through the pain of upgrading the hammer. For saying how much I hate the glock style trigger assembly, it wasn't too bad of a job. Did the hammer and the knocker lock. Bit annoyed at myself I didn't do hammer spring as well but meh we'll see when it breaks.

I followed this guys videos which were excellent to help me along:

Also installed a TM bucking onto the PDI barrel which seems to be playng nicely, just need a HPA adapter to shoot it now.

Ooof. This is another rabbit hole of scary proportions that I've jumped into.... Bought two AAP in the patrol base Xmas sale thingy. One for me and one for the boy.

He's already wanting to faster bits (cow cow springs?). It's already got a 6.02 and a maple leaf....?

I quite fancy making mine into a weird but that's not even been looked at yet!

Where do people start with the AAP?

Really depends what you want to achieve. You don't need to do anything until something breaks, but as you say it's a massive rabbit hole and ends up being far from an £80 pistol.

If you want to make a start with some solid basics, I would recommend changing the hop rubber (I like 50 degree flamingos) and some kind of short-stroking. Waldo Customs do a pretty good spring and buffer set for this, but there plenty of others around. Oh and you may want to install a flat/adjustable trigger if the long pull bothers you. I've done all of this plus added a 150mm maple leaf crazy jet inner barrel, Black Mamba upper receiver, AA rotary hop unit and CNC magwell. I can now hop whichever weight of BB I want at 1.1J.

View attachment 105961Here's my AP7. Still a work in progress. Pretty much still stock inside apart from a ML rubber, Hadron Fang plate and TTI trigger.

I'm looking at lightweight 50rd mags (not going HPA). Options seem to be Action Army, Guarder or Prowin.

Anyone got any experience of these? I can't seem to find any kind of consensus just lots of conflicting opinions.

WE mags are impossible to find so I might just stick with TM mags with the AA router upgrade.

Don't.

Silly two piece design that causes leaks.
I've heard that but also heard they can be fixed by tightening them up or gasket glue.

The Prowins might be out as I they don't make a WE style gas router version.

I haven't been able to find any info on the Guarders although they do appear to use standard TM feed lips and gas routers.

Long time! How are we all doing?

Purely in terms of springs (I'm using the stock bolt), what do we think the formula for best gas efficiency (ie not ROF or trigger speed of semi shots).

I'm not entirely convinced a stronger recoil spring is the way to go, so was going to short-stroke the stock one. However what's the function of the nozzle spring? Or rather, how would it affect gas usage?

For gas efficiency a weak recoil spring seems logical as the striker ( the thing that presses the  mag valve)gets reset when the bolt travels back and the spring resists this.

The nozzle spring shouldn't make any difference to gas usage, it's purpose in life is to pull the nozzle out of the way so it can return and scoop up another bb for the next shot.

Only when you are getting high ROF will a stronger spring help there, maybe if you have short stroked it and or added a stronger recoil spring, then its about timing.

I was thinking earlier today how poor the seal is between the recoil piston and it's cylinder( nozzle) is and how to improve that. It should speed up the recoil and perhaps reduce gas consumption, cos I know mine chucks out a lot  of gas at the end of the barrel. Way too much gas per shot I feel.

I wonder if the only thing that really matters for gas usage is the spring that whacks the mag valve, or the valve spring itself.

Other stuff will affect how much of that gas gets to the BB.

Thoughts?

Is the airtac wombo combo bundle any any good

I've no experience with it, but they're a reliable retailer and it looks a decent bundle. I would pick one up if I was a bit more CQB inclined.

That's not a bad price to be fair!

My mate had a gen 1 Glock adapter from them, which broke quite quickly. They were pretty quick at getting replacement parts out and re- designed the mag release because quite a few people were having the same issue with it snapping!

I think they're shotgun shell adapters are very clever!

Does anyone know if any Glock trigger springs are a direct replacement? I can only find one shop which sells an AAP spring set and they seemingly won't post to The UK.

Have you had a look on Empire Airsoft?

@Steveocee I believe you posted a vid about a mini mamba setup. You had a longer barrel running out the front. Did you ever put in a shorter barrel? And if so what sort of velocity were you getting?

I'm struggling to get over .5 joules with green gas. 84mm 6.02 barrel.

Be interested to see if it's a discrepancy my end or the limits of that length of inner barrel.
