That thing looks sick! If you like the ergo of the thumbhole lower foregrip and don't want to replace it, ExE on YouTube has a good wood furniture refinishing guide for NATO's cold war oiled wood type furnitures or soviet style resin coated woods. If you want a different finish, I'm sure there are other finishing guides for that wood type. And im sure sanding that's doable, If not time consuming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXkF_iNQR8o&t=284s Here's Explosive Enterprises' guide on simple NATO/USSR wood finishes.

Making a cheap fast helmet comfy.
Holly Wallace replied to BI6BILL97's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I second this. I have a lot of hair, So I'm usually running a MICH2000 style helmet, But if I am running my fast helmet, The pads are very useful for spacing it so it's comfy, And good harness straps are a must if you're wearing it for a while at a time. -
Yeah. I'm considering getting a smaller bipod, Problem is just getting one large enough when extended. The 7.62x39 style mags are a little long, And the current grip bipod lets me rest the rifle down upright.

Reddit's a pretty consistent hellhole for people asking for advice/help, I've seen. Anyone not omniscient about the subject at hand? Dislike bomb 'em and give a few sarcastic comments for good measure. Non-contradictory good advice is somewhat uncommon. Granted, I rarely use it, But I think some of the subs are alright for advice seekers. Oh, And stay away from the airsoft subreddit's comments.

Hi all, As in the title, Wondering what you all think about those foregrips with bipods spring loaded into them. I've always been running one on my SR47, Since I'm either all in on static position support type of play style, Or running around. It's a stable enough solid bipod, And deploys and retracts quick. The grip itself is pretty monolithic however, And it does occasionally get bumped on trees, Or gets in the way of the whole rock-in mag thing. Haven't seen any one else using something like this, It's either just a foregrip, Or foregrip and bipod seperate on DMRs.

That 417 is pretty. I'd usually say I prefer the larger 6X ACOG like our aussie pals use on their 417s, But that looks very nice. I hear the VFC 417 has a pretty good kick to it too.

Yeah, I've heard that about it's hop... I don't want to be spending half the day re-adjusting the thing, Especially considering how frequently my guns get clunked against trees, Get sat on, etc while im playing. Might just save up for a cyma or one of Vorsk's VMP-1X packages if I don't find anything else that catches my eye.

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Holly Wallace replied to Skara's topic in General Discussion
Strikeforce CQB in Gloucester today. Hadn't visited in a while, So I thought I'd check in on one of their Thursday games. It was quite packed today, (makes sense, half term) with around thirty of us, and we got in a good 3 games in the 7pm to 10pm. A lot of hire kits, But everyone was all good fun. Only an acceptable amount of blue on blue today. Started with CTF, Went pretty well. Looks like they moved the objectives around again. Took us around 40 mins, Had a break. Second was an interesting game where both teams had to seek out boxes with their colours on scattered around the place, If you found a box with your colour on, Bring it up to 'embassy' (raised corridor and rooms, About 15m long, 2 ladder stairs either end). Twist is, Each team has one half of the embassy each to drop their boxes. If the other team can make it to the other end, They can steal any opposite team boxes. And guess which team didn't have anyone with pyros. After attempting to retake the embassy for 40 or so minutes, Round was over. And third was attack/defend, Attackers had unlimited lives and all, Defenders had to move back and area when hit, Until all were out. Wasn't super well conveyed where we had to fall back to, But marshall was there guiding defenders. Very fast paced, One guy on the opposite side had a ridiculous amount of pyros, Felt like enduring a mortar attack. Switched around sides after 20 mins, I called it a day during our attack. Gas mask was drenched even with my new DIY antifog, Caffeine had worn off and my ears were ringing. Staff were good, Briefing was good, Looks like all the hirers got sorted out with good kit quick. It did take a bit longer than I'd have liked to get back to playing after breaks, But it's perfectly expected with the amount we had today, Staff handled it great. Was a small incident with a guy blind firing down stairs during round 2 (reportedly not taking hits, But you know it goes with that), Marshals sorted it out great, Just had a small talk with the dude, And on we went. Overall, Brilliant CQB site still, Very competent staff, Not too speedsofty, And good crowd. And sorry for the Hoover dam of text. -
Yeah okay. I'm missing that part it seems. Thanks for figuring it out for me.

Hello all, I've just gone through the process of my first gearbox shim. Everything's gone well, Up until I put it mostly back together, And check the fire modes. Single... Works fine. Auto... As expected... Safety... Fires auto 😠 So I had a look online, Seen all the usual jazz about loose selector levers, Wasn't the problem. Cutoff lever is in shape and the springs just fine. The selector plate looks to be in good shape. The cutoff lever is engaging the cam on the gear to the piston perfectly fine, (single works, after all) So I'm at a bit of a loss to what's going on. The only thing I notice is that the small raised level (shown red on image) doesn't move forward enough to engage the cutoff lever which'd stop the trigger from moving. The selector gears can't even move the selector plate forward enough for that, So I presume I'm missing something. Thanks in advance, And if it's something stupid I've missed, I'm really really sorry.

Hi all, Looking for a new cheap-ish CQB tool, And I came across the JG MP5SD. I'm a bit of an MP5SD fan, Plus I'm not looking for too much FPS. Just wondering if it's a little too flimsy for the £120 price range? I do throw myself around alot in outdoor matches, So I don't want it coming apart like a Lego model. Alternatively, Was eyeing one of those Vorsk GBB subguns if the MP5SD is a bit naff. Thanks.

A part of my brain just really likes knowing the time all the time. Plus, I find it super useful for keeping track of how long's left of the current round, And Its come in handy when coordinating with teammates in a milsim once.

Bit of a miscellaneous one, But I've recently gained a bit of an interest in wristwatches. Just wondering what (if at all) watches do you lot field while playing? I've seen a lot of interesting picks for watches that can handle a BB or two, I've seen a lot of people that wing it and wear any regular-wear watch, And I've seen many that opt to not wear one at all from BB incident experience. I like to field my Casio G-shock while playing, It's a little bulky, But is absolutely bomb-proof. Veeery thick front glass. Some dude I saw last month had a lineup of F-91Ws, Had already lost one to a BB, Just replaces 'em everytime they get shot. Good thing they're cheap.

Stylish. What's the optic?

Hiya all, The fixed stock mount (lower piece in img) on my Bulldog SRC SR-47 has recently karked it in an incident with a very stubborn countersunk hex screw. I've had a look around and haven't seen or heard much mention of AK stock mounting methods other than the typical folding hinge type, And I'm not sure if this reciever and stock mount is some proprietary deal or not (I have heard the SRC SR-47 is a CYMA clone). If anyone knows if this reciever will take other stock mounts (fixed or hinged works), And/Or where to find replacements, That'd be great. If more info is needed, Just scream at me in the comments. I probably missed a detail or two. Thanks

Trouble shouldering rifle with Osprey MkIV
Holly Wallace replied to Holly Wallace's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Re the AK, Yeah, It's a fixed 100 style. I've been looking for one of those stock adapters, Since unscrewing the whole rear end of the rifle's getting a liiiittle tiring at the start and end of each day :^) Been eyeing a Galaxy MP5K, Since I heard they can reach like 310 fps? (for 50ish quid too!!) Would it work for mid-long range outdoor fields though? There is something incredibly fun and appealing about throwing myself around in unreasonably heavy gear. +intimidation if you wear big steel-capped boots in CQB rings! They may be able to hear me stomping towards 'em from 3 rooms away, But at least I wont stub my toes. The 20+ degrees over here as of recent has made me reconsider. Just a bit. -
Trouble shouldering rifle with Osprey MkIV
Holly Wallace replied to Holly Wallace's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
My rifle is a little front heavy (SRC AK, AK-100 style foregrips with a 1x40 and vertical grip), So I suppose that'd affect things. Eyepro's some generic goggles with a mesh lower facemask. Had some trouble with the mesh interfering with the cheek hold, But I've managed to form it so it's out the way enough. I get the feeling I'm either too small for the smallest size of Osprey, Or I've got it adjusted wrong. I may have to look into a battle belt or other rig. Thanks -
Hi all, I'll get to the point, I run an Osprey MkIVa frequently, And I've always had a problem finding a comfortable shouldering position with my AEG. I get the feeling the rubber shoulder pad on the right is a bit too high, As the point where I'd usually shoulder my rifle is only half covered by the rubber, And slips easily. I'm really not a big person, And the vest is in the smallest 170 size. Just wondering if anyone if I have it adjusted wrong, Or if I'm shouldering it wrong? If more info's needed or anything like that I'll try and provide. I am new to the forums. Thanks in advance

Mid Wales Airsoft
Holly Wallace replied to HmblSqd-Luke's topic in Skirmish Sites, Stories & Reviews
I'm a bit late to reply, But I've been a few times, Brilliant staff, Marshals are all great. The ground at the Mid Wales site is good and very varied, Be prepared for hills and mud (especially so after rain). The C3 site down at Monmouth is a bit more flat I hear. In terms of atmosphere, It's nice and casual. I started in more serious CQB places, And Mid Wales was a very nice change of pace. 100% recommend
