  1. Hello, I’m quite new to airsoft so my technical skills are very much at beginner level so any advice would be appreciated! The magazine retaining catch on my Bolt Airsoft MP5 is faulty. It appears the metal appears to have been severed as you can see from the video so I’m not sure if this is something I’ll be able to fix or if I’ll need to source a replacement part. Magazines don’t house properly and when I do put a mag in I have to push down on the catch until I hear a click otherwise the mag can just fall out. If anyone has any ideas plz let me know. 2. Did you ever receive your mags? Their postage price is very reasonable to the UK so I’ve been eyeing up some of their stock
  3. My first pistol: Thought I can’t go wrong with a TM. I’m still fairly new to airsoft so not one for tinkering/upgrading yet (only additional purchase was a couple of extra mags, I fancy a small torch for the lower rail at some point in the future). Hopefully the USP is as reliable as it needs to be! First outing will be next weekend.
  4. For those kind of enough to contribute to this thread, and anyone else who’s interested enough, I thought I’d provide an update on my original post. Over the weekend my friends and I went for our second day of airsofting at a different site from our first go, and it was awesome. From the get go the staff were great, instantly welcoming and helpful. Our day was full of fun game modes on a really varied site with the marshals being spot on throughout. The players were brilliant, friendly and encouraging with a nice focus on teamwork without it being overbearing. In short, we’re going back again (and probably again and again). All those here that said to stick with it have been proven right in my eyes. And for those interested, the site was Viper Strike in Dundee. I’d highly recommend it.
  5. Yeah you're right enough, we went back after each game. What also didn't help was we were told that the day started at 09:30 and to be there half an hour before hand. We arrived about 08:55 and the first game didn't start until after 10:30. I realise this is probably a one off (my friend had to ask what was going on and the staff said a group were late) but it didn't get things off to a great start. This is an interesting point. My friends and I are planning on waiting a while (couple of months or so) before giving it another go, hopefully this will mean things ramp up a bit with COVID issues fading and the weather improving. Funny you say this as the morning brief sucked. I feel bad saying that as the guy giving the brief appeared to be a new member of staff who mumbled and didn't really seem to know what to say without prompting from the marshals. Again, this seems to point towards the idea that there were several one-off factors that spoiled our day slightly. Why not wield all six like you're some sort of tactical octopus, or a glocktopus if you will. Sorry for the long replies, I didn't managed to get on here to reply to them one at a time. A lot of sound advise from everyone though which has certainly been taken on board and has made me (and my buddies who've I have pretty much let read this whole thread) feel more optimistic about airsoft going forward.
  6. I think persistence will prevail. I’ll certainly be giving other sites ago before writing off the sport as a long term hobby. I’ll defo be doing both these things. There’s a group of four of us who are all starting out and have similar ideas on what we want out of it (teamwork, comms, objective focussed, not so fussed about looking flash in expensive kit…although that does sound fun). I’ll also be contacting the site, in a friendly manner of course. Who knows, maybe it was just a day where a few of the marshals were feeling rough after a late one on Saturday 🤷‍♂️
  7. Thanks for the responses folks, good to hear it’s probably more a site issue and not a universal attitude. Bunker 31 in the north east of Scotland. The battle/mil sims sound appealing. The only issue (as suggested from the site I played at) is my location. There’s not many sites where I live so I’m unsure if I’d have the same sort of battle/mil sim options without some significant travelling. As you’ll see from the other replies, I’m up in the north east of Scotland. This means I’m quite limited with which sites I can realistically travel to, although I would be happy to travel around Scotland to find a good site.
  8. Hi all, I’ve had an interest in airsoft for several years now (watching YouTube and following Facebook pages etc) but only got round to playing (with some fellow first-timer friends) today. In short, it was an underwhelming day and have some questions for the airsoft community, the answers to which will hopefully reignite my enthusiasm to take up airsoft as a hobby. The first issue we encountered was the wait time between games. The site stated the day would be from 09:30 to 16:30, within this we got six games. Is this normal? We found wait times of about half an hour between games (an hour and a half for lunch) meant we were getting bored and cold. We found there was a lack of enthusiasm regarding prioritising the actual objectives of the game modes. We would often be at the forefront of the team, having to encourage others to flank with us or push objectives which were relatively easy to achieve. It seemed to be that most players would rather sit back and plink from a distance rather than getting stuck in. Again, is this normal? Perhaps it was just the player base on the day. On the topic of objectives, none of us knew which team won any of the games. The marshals would never say and none of the players seemed to know. For me, I found this discouraging. What’s the point in having objectives if no one cares about it, including the marshals? Again, I want to believe this is just a site issue but maybe it’s common place. If the things I’ve mentioned are pretty consistent across airsoft events everywhere else, that’s fine. I’m not here to criticise a community, it just means airsoft is maybe not something I should invest time/money into if I won’t enjoy it on the whole. Something I’d be disappointed to admit given the optimism I had before playing today. Sorry for the long read. If anyone takes the time to answer any of the questions above I’d appreciate it.
