Sorry for the double post, but if I were to upgrade the internals of my current M4 would would you suggest, motor/mosfet, barrel and hop up system wise? EDIT: Would this gearbox fit mine? http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-gears-gearbox/ares-amoeba-efcs-ecu-gearbox-complete-rear-wired.htm#.VckVLSZViko

I do like the look of that, thanks again dude

So far the general opinion is to buy new then? Will probably do that, as I can use my current M4 to tinker with and learn from, and if I screw it up its not a huge deal. Electric vs GBB? I know gas sucks in cold weather but do like the recoil, anyone had experience with electric blow backs? Probably getting a bit ahead of myself really Back to electrics, any specific stand out model or type? Ideally I'd like something that already comes with good internals, also, a couple of good reputable sites to buy from would help loads lads, don't want to make the same mistake of buying from a shoddy site again. Appreciate all the help so far though, especially from you Trigger, think you've helped on all my threads so far, need to learn as much as I can, done alot of researching and reading online, but there's always so much variation with people and opinions!

So, basically, next pay day, i'll have up to £400 at my disposal to potentially buy a new gun, my current M4 is this https://www.justbbguns.co.uk/product/549/2-TONE-GUNS-PRO/466/2-TONE-AEG-PRO/1468/SRC-M4-RIS-AEG-AIRSOFT-GUN Unfortunately I wasn't able to get all the help and advice before buying from this site, so yes, it was bought from JBBG Now mine was the 1st gen version, so I'm guessing it's pretty basic internally although the external upper and lower reciever is full metal. The description isn't the best, but it looks like my gun doesn't have metal gearbox. Now my M4 recently has been jamming alot, and has been playing up battery wise, it's as if even if the gun isn't being used and the batterys plugged in, it drains completely for no reason, the gun feels like its jammed but isnt (Although it does jam often) And there's no feedback from the battery when pulling the trigger. I have cleaned the barrel using appropriate lube, but the barrel didn't appear to be dirty at all? I'm looking to get lipos, but have read thats a big no no with a non metal gearbox and I guess a bog standard motor? Looking for advice really I guess, is it worth upgrading the internals? Including inner barrel, motor, gearbox etc? Or shall I just buy something better all round for my budget?

M14 Not Feeding... Still! (Video to show problem)
Reece_Spurs replied to Reece_Spurs's topic in General Discussion
Cheers for the reply, any suggestions on what hop unit to buy? Bit piffed that the hop unit needs replacing though and actually came like this as stock, I thought G&G were a pretty good brand? -
Hey guys.. Again.. I started this thread about a month ago http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/27153-can-anyone-help-with-my-new-m14-not-feeding/ explaining my new M14 not feeding.. Have a quick read, but long story short, thanks from the help of a few guys, found out JBBG is a sucky site, bulldog bb's suck just as hard and mid caps are awesome. Thought I'd sorted it buy giving the new mag a bang on the base, it worked, but didn't get to test it properly until about a week ago due to work.. After a few shots, it stopped firing again, give it a bang, shoots a few bbs then dry fires again, rinse and repeat. The video should show alot better than I can explain, but basically, when the mag is in and clicked (I've come to know after alot of reading M14 mags can be a pain) it sits flush against the magwell on the trigger side, now after a bit of playing with it, I found it shoots flawlessly when the magazine is pushed about 1-2mm towards the barrel, and I've tested this part alot, it shoots consistently whilst held there, also jammed a piece of cardboard in that gap and it shot fine.. Here's the video anyway.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oJsWnQGyFo I'm still very new to all this externally, so no idea if this is something as simple as tightening or adjusting something, but any advice would be great guys. Also, should my mag be doing this when I eject it? As in the end coming out like this? It clicks back in by pushing it down but doesnt look right?

Cheers guys, ACOG it is!!

Hey guys, just a couple of questions, need a scope mount for my G&G M14 Vet. This is my gun http://www.evike.com/products/28217/ I've read G&G aren't compatible with other M14 makes mount wise, unless you want to drill a new hole etc, only place I can find in stock is here http://airsoftzone.co.uk/accessories/scope-mounts/scope-mount-for-gr14-m14-series-gng Now, i'm not fussed about the money, just wondered if this is actually the case with G&G only compatible with G&G accessories in this particular situation? On top of that, I was really hoping to get a very good 4x Acog type scope, I don't want a dot sight or a 1x and I dont want more than 4x ideally, but really wondering if an acog scope would look right on this type of old school gun? Advice on a scope please guys? Cheers.

Cheers mate, not 100% happy, but i'd have to be an expert for it to be perfect Not a too difficult paint job, but as a first time, i'm very pleased with the outcome, so thanks to you guys on here that gave me advice, otherwise I probably would have just painted it straight over the blue stuff with normal wal paint (Joking of course, but you get my point )

Been a while guys, but got round to this eventually, so thought I'd update those who care So, started off with disassembling the gun, which was fairly straight forward. Sorry about the mess... Once I removed the heatshield I soaked the relevent parts in the fairy power spray, which did nothing at all So I decided to sand the parts down, took a good 2-3 hours to do it slowly and properly, didn't want to use too low grit paper, so took my time, after the parts were decently sanded down, applied the primer, about 40 mins per coat, 3 coats overall. It got very dark very quick Decided at the very last minute I wanted the plastic part to be black instead of brown, looks better IMO and more authentic, so considering I had grey primer for the metal and white plastic primer for the heatshield, I gave the polymer heatshield 2 coats of white plastic then 2 coats of grey primer as I didnt want to spray black paint over white primer, was a massive risk but hey ho.. Finished results (That i'm ridiculously proud of tbh, although not perfect) Considering i've never done anything like this before, i'm well chuffed with the result, messed up the black on the barrel at one point, sprayed too close and it run and looked terrible, tried to wipe it but made it even worse, so let it dry, sanded it slowly for an hour, and started again. Little bits here and there that aren't brilliant but nothing major, i'm just very overly critical and my own worse critic most of the time! Thanks for the help to those who offered advice, made the process so much easier!
-
Tbh, the feel of the heatshield is the only thing I dislike about the gun, feels cheap and makes a "plasticy" sound when gripped. I did find out though, that apparently the real version is actually plastic aswell.. Cheers again though
-
The heatshield on top is going to be brown. You can the picture in the link in the first post mate.
-
Just ordered grey primer and and white plastic primer. Cheers for the advice
-
Sorry for the double post, just picked my gun up to have a look at the paint job, and it seems I can actually scratch bits of paint off with my thumb nail JustBBguns shoddy paint job might actually be a blessing in disguise, this might be a much easier job that I thought!

Unfortunately I don't know anyone who's got experience in this sort of thing. Otherwise I definitely would. I have everything I need, bar primer, silly question, but how important is primer? Some have suggested it, but some others, even on youtube videos havn't bothered? I bought some fairy power spray today aswell, so, should I use that to try and get as much paint off as I can, then sandpaper the rest off, use the heavier grit last, then primer, fine coat of matt black, wait, respray etc? As for the plastic heat shield on top, not sure how easy that's going to come off? I believe it's polymer, but using sandpaper on plastic doesn't sound like a good idea Cheers for the advice though, helps alot.
-
I really quite like the used look, especially for a old school style gun like this, but I don't want the worn parts to uncover blue Quite a few have suggested fairy power spray, is it really that good? Isn't it a degreasing spray for ovens etc? Best way to use it? I might try the spray as many have suggested it, but I'll also sand off (hopefully) most of the paint with super fine sandpaper and emery cloth.
-
Cheers for that mate, I've seen a different video of the dissembly and it does look very straight forward. The top cover i'll just take off aswell as the stock as you said, they won't be a problem, its just the barrel. Is that fairy power spray good then? I've got some very fine emery cloth here at work aswell as some super fine sandpaper used for polishing glass etc, could I just use the emery cloth first then smooth it down after with the sandpaper?

Can anyone help with my new M14 not feeding?
Reece_Spurs replied to Reece_Spurs's topic in Electric Guns
1 - Cheers 2 - North London, tbh I want to get my guns how I want them first before going to any skirmishes, and I do enjoy the mechanical side of it like yourself, I'm a technician/engineer by trade, so taking things apart and fixing things come naturally and I enjoy it 4 - Yeah my M14 seems to be feeding okay now, got a mid cap for both this and my M4 coming in the post. Actually only recently found out mid caps don't require winding *Facepalm* Always knew what mid cap and high cap stood for, but thought both needed winding, which thinking about it now, is pointless as mid caps would be pointless if they function the same but held less bbs Like I said, learning somethig new everyday! Cheers for the advice and sites though, will take a look. -
Some of you might have seen my thread on my M14, well, paints arrived, and before I go ahead and respray the two tone parts, just wanted to stop by and ask if anyone has any tips, this is the gun so you can see which parts need respraying http://www.justbbguns.co.uk/product/549/2-TONE-GUNS-PRO/462/PAINTED-AEG-RIFLES/3125/GG-M14-AEG-BLUE Basically the barrel, top part and the stock cover. The barrel is metal, as is the stock, the top part is polymer, not sure if that makes any difference Was going to go with masking taping the wood and metal parts around the sights, but just wanted to ask if there's a better way to go around spray painting? Cheers in advance.

Can anyone help with my new M14 not feeding?
Reece_Spurs replied to Reece_Spurs's topic in Electric Guns
Well, of course, i'm not shying away from the fact I'm fairly new to airsoft, but what would help me learn more is actual advice given by (To be fair, a fair few in this thread, like ImTriggerHappy and others) rather than the condescending "Omg you're a noob" post. Not direscted at you btw, just in general. Because everyone who starts in the sort of thing knows the best places to buy, best brand of bbs, best weight etc from the go don't they? 1 - As a few have said this site isnt the best, I won't use them anymore, care to give me other options? 2 - Well done, yes i'm 25 in a few days, as I've stated many times, I'm still new to airsoft, I want to go to public games in the future and get more into it, hell, overall I've spent around £800 already on various different things related to airsoft. Due to my shift pattern it isnt easy for me to arrange going to skirmishes just yet, but I intend to. Paint isnt a problem for me, my M4 was fully black and metal apart from the stock and grip, which I replaced. My M14 just needs the barrell and top repainted, not a huge deal. 3 - Not quite sure what point you're trying to make here? I bought this gun after watching countless videos on the same exact gun I bought, loved the look and style, the cocking action sounds awesome and authentic, and always just loved retro style guns. It's probably way too powerful (Indoor places have limits dont they? This averaged around 400fps on a video I saw) And far too heavy to use for most games, might be good to use for an outdoor as a DMR with a scope or something, but hey, bought it because it looks lovely, and I just like collecting guns to be honest. Anyways, cheers for all the helpful advice in this thread guys, bought some blasters as some suggested. -

Reece_Spurs replied to Reece_Spurs's topic in Electric Guns
Maybe a faulty mag, going to buy another one, had a few test shots today, fires very well, apart from the mis fires here and there, put 10 bbs straight down into the chamber in a row and all fired fine (upside down obviously) so i can only assume its the mag.. -

Can anyone help with my new M14 not feeding?
Reece_Spurs replied to Reece_Spurs's topic in Electric Guns
Think I've sorted it guys, just watched probably the 8th video on this gun on youtube (8 is alot, doesnt seem to be too many on the M14) and for the first time the guy recommended, once clicking the mag in, to give it a good whack or 3 under the mag whe it comes new. First time I've seen this sort of thing suggested, but tried it, and it's now firing!!! Thank fudge for that. Such a simple thing. Thanks for your help anyways guys, even though it was something silly and basic like that, still learnt a few bits, as I said, I'm still new to airsoft, really, so i'll stick around these forums as you all seem really helpful guys. Got 9000 blaster bbs coming aswell for those who recommended them Cheers aswell @ImTriggerHappy for the PM help. -

Reece_Spurs replied to Reece_Spurs's topic in Electric Guns
Very strange, just succesfully fired 2 bbs like this with the gun upside down.. Early on, I filled this with 3 bbs (about the gap between this and the mag) and it wouldnt fire upright, does this mean the magazine isnt feeding correctly?
