Wouldn't go as far as 10k, providing you've got the building. And really depends how many rooms / walls are already there (or are you talking gearing up with hire kit, insurance, stock, staff...etc)? Garages are normally prepared to let old tyres go pretty cheap if you ask, also renovators could be a cheap source for second hand wooden doors. Old up and over garage doors too. They make good baricades and could be used as a stop gap while the more 'official' structure is made. I would imagine a reasonably top end site could be built into warehouse space for half that using re-claimed materials. Though, if you get full player limits, where is the motivation to finish, other than maybe charge more?

I would like (but don't know if it's within insurance policies) to see sites who normally have full auto restrictions do a full auto evening every now and then. UCAP don't have the auto restrictions on any site and I find it brillint.

Alas, after pricing even a basic set up with trade price timber... Still a lot of money in plywood and 2x4's

So, general consensus is that it's how the space is used over how big it is for the 10 -50 ish numbers. But then it becomes more about space, providing there isn't a single choke point. I'm also all in favor of well done 'sneaky bastard' tunnels where you get shot in the arse because you failed to spot the vent behind you. But they need to be done well. Did anyone play UCAP Virus? it was a really nice site, but the staircases could lead to major choke points with lots of piling up on some games. BUT there was the space to move outside of all combat zones which just felt like wasted space. Pyro

Hmmmm, yea. The mall puts it into perspective. But at the same time, you could get a lot more people in there than just 100. When I played there I spent quite some time wandering around un-occupied areas. So what would be enough? There are some warehouses around hampshire that have 10k sq feet. Could maybe add 50% onto that with split level stuff. It's not huge, but providing you have enough cover, corners and rooms to provide intregue, would work out nicely. I got the idea looking around the local ScrewFix back room thinking that 30-40 players could easily move between the shelves. Hate it when you can't find any action Chock. Had that at most sites at one time or another, reaches a point you're running around praying someone shoots you so you at least know where to go after re spawn. but on the flip side. Too small, and you spawn with line of sight on OP4 and just pi55 BBs away. Far to paintball/money grabbing for my taste Pyro

Spawned from a conversation with fellow skirmishers... What is the relation to CQB site size and number of players you can sensibly have? Bigger is always better, but how many could you get in say, a 2000sq foot warehouse? It would need lots of cover and maybe some multi level areas. Like laser quest, but with BB guns Pyro

I've looked into this, but I highly doubt an air soft field could get the revenue to cover rent

Would rather not go into details on how they're made Ian. Trade secrets and all Pyro

I actually got Kudos from a martial at UKAP bunker for clearing a room of 4 people without a single bang with it. On the flip side, I've been caught out by someone tossing a dead BFG into a room. But yea, common sense prevales, any site that has a ban on pyros in whole or in part will extend to my babies. Martials are law, and always worth checking with them. I do need to do a side by side burn test and publish the report for fire risk on them really. "'literally anything which causes smoke, fire, flash or bang effects of any magnitude" Flashes? What about strobe torches. Find it hard to believe that they would be ruled as a pyro. TAG's look funnnnnnn... Although I prefer my guns smaller for mobility. Except the automatic grenade launcher I have planned... That's going to be interesting. 36BBs per shot. 36 shots per minute. 20 shot drum With regards to sour grapes - skirmishing is a battle simulator. Site rules are there for safety and some for fairness. But out side of that, anything goes. If someone gets out-witted and doesn't like it, tough. A group I was with got hammered by a spawn camper, someone complained and the martial just told us to suck it up and check our corners better. Pyro

Need a time bomp prom that really shouts out the time left. Unreal tournement style. Or maybe Big speakers on giving out countdown timers Pyro

Oh I so need the time and money to get into gun modding. Only DIY thing I've done other than my torch, was fake flash bangs. Basically fuse wire in an already spend flash bangs. You can light it and lob it in a room and as people panic to get out. Step in and shoot. [Don't know if that counts as "How to make your own or modify pyrotechnics". If this is an issue, please advise and I will edit this post accordingly. Additionaly, is some one would could clarify what is ment by 'pytrotechnics' in this instance - physical explosive, any combustable material, Any 'throwable' accessory... etc] Pyro

Wonder if you could use a rubber band to ping BBs for a kill shot
-
Arg, yea. Nothing worse than those corioor stale mates where no-one has the balls to push forward. Count down timers help a lot with that.

Cool! I like all of these What site had the 'batteries' and bio-hazard canisters? What was the time delay between putting the last one in and it going bang? Wouldn't want to be around (another) MK9 when it went off. Pyro

Oh yea, ive done mall. And what can I say, bursting out of a ball pit with guns blazing is... fun going to go again in march if its still on

Ive got a heap of sketches for guns that have geometric shapes and features that a square light would work with but yea, round barrel, round sight, round grip, square light is a bit poop. Will find me some brighter, rounder LEDs and have a redesign. pyro

Everyone loves the old last man standing games, but it always feels better playing for a goal. Capture the flag, vip escort and such. What's everyones favorite scinario and why? Personally I'm a fan of capture the flag as it allows for stealth play as well as all out assault, can get confusing if you don't know who has the flag though :l Also, I've seen more and more sophisticated props like defusable time bombs appearing but never played with any. Do they really add much to games or just present confusion and complication? pyro

Thanks PT What about it ro you dind fugly Loz? I'm not too keen on the actual light, too blocky. But the grip is surprising comfortable to use. May do a version 2 with some 3D printed parts to improve asthetics in the future.

Wowww.... yea, will be giving that place a try in the new year

Caught myself a little short on cash coming upto a CQB (UKAP Bunker) game and desperately needed a torch. So a rummage around the scrap bin and I muddled this one together: The light itself is an 7W 11v cool white LED housed in a machined aluminium heatsink. The lens is a repurposed CD case cover. There is a MOSFET mounted to the back to provide the power switching for the LED. The light clamps to the gun by a machined bracket around the sight. Rigid attachment and doesn't impeed the use of the sight. You can also see the 3.5mm jack connecting the light to the controller. Showing the light and the controller together. The two controller buttons are for strobe and torch. The knob to the back of the controller is a brightness adjustment for the torch. Useful for being able to see by without alerting people to your light. Please excuse the hot melt glue monster on the back of the light. I was running out of time. Given more time, I would have used a microcontroller to control the strobe. But made do with a couple of 741's and a 555 IC. Here it is in prototype form. All the electronics (except the swithcing fet and battery) are in the grip. The grip itself is milled out of delrin/acetal to blend in with the gun. The battery is a 3 cell 11.1v Lipo (had one laying around) in the stock. The master power switch is on the side and there is an internal 2A fuse. The gun battery is mounted within the grip and is just a Ni-Mh I don't have any plans to produce this mod, it was just a bodge, but I have got some other ideas to play around with using high power LEDs. I'll post when I have more Pyro

Hi all, Pyro here. From the Southampton area. Was into skirmishes a lot a couple of years ago and looking to get back into it. Much prefere CQB and fast paced action to slower wide area / woodland games. Keen engineer professionally, I've got a lot of plans drawn up for mods and new kit which I will try and post about when progress is made. Other than Bunker, are there many CQB sites around Southampton / Portsmouth anyone goes to and recomends? Peace, Pyro
