When it comes to new RIFs or accessories/parts is the second hand market an indicator if it’s any good

That site owner sounds like a massive cunt with insecurities he needs to get over. Site owners don't have to be best mates with everyone of their customers but to openly slag them off to other customers is just wrong. I'd be looking at playing elsewhere.

Over the past few years those with more extreme political views have become more confident in sharing those views with anyone within ear shot. This goes for life in general, not just airsoft.

When it comes to allowing certain loadouts this is a tricky one. While I'm not a fan of banning things to prevent hurt feelings I can understand why some people might be unhappy with some loadouts. I'd also question the motives of anyone deliberately wearing a controversial loadout as in my experience they're only doing it for a reaction

Obviously everybody is different but as somebody who has many a time wore a “controversial loadout” it hasn’t been to get a reaction.

A vast majority of my younger airsofting days I could be found attending walk on skirmishes with a WW2 Heer impression kit (Always asked site owners before attending in it of course). It was my reenactment kit and I had the airsoft pews to match, the vast majority of people showed curiosity and interest. Obviously some people had issue but that’s life.

Nowadays (And for the past sort of 5/6 years) I’ve primarily ran modern RUSFOR kits and again that wasn’t for a reaction - I like the weapons and the kit. Obviously during the “special military operation” I was hesitant to wear it but most people have again not had an issue.

That’s not to say that people don’t wear WW2 Jerry kit for the wrong reasons but you’ll also find modern day Nazis in multicam too

Don't get me wrong a well put together German ww2 loadout can look great, my comment about wanting a reaction was about those would would deliberately choose to portray waffen ss over a regular army unit

The second hand market is a funny one for sure. Sometimes you'll see something that really ought to sell for more struggle for ages then go for almost nothing. Then you get stuff that's kinda crap sell for a weirdly high price because it's "gucci".

That said the whole market is generally harder than it's been for a few years from the selling perspective. A lot of people are selling which increases supply, and demand is limited because money is tight right now. The same force that increases supply lowers demand, basically. So now RIFs especially as ultimately expensive toy purchases just go for way cheaper.

I have a bunch of stuff I know I'll never get anywhere near my money back on. My VFC AK has had some weathering work done including some fun heat bluing and a custom Mosin Nagant handguard. It's an - in my opinion - excellent replica of the Kalash from Metro Last Light, one of my favourite games of all time. The number of people who like MLL enough to get that is tiny, and the quantity of them who would pay "what it's worth" to have it is even lower. So it would sell way below what it's worth.

Luckily, I don't have to sell up my toys just yet, and generally just have some stuff that I buy, try, and sell off if I don't like it much. I'm happy to wait for good deals, for example I got a TM PX4 with 3 mags for £30 last month. Lovely pistol, it just had a shagged slide, missing rear sight, missing right side safety, and broken trigger bar. After fixing the safety and trigger I was still only in for ~£55-60. The slide and rear sight will be replaced by a nice aftermarket kit I was planning to get either way.

It's a tricky one buying Boneyard in particular because you're gambling that you know more than the seller about how to fix it. People rarely meaningfully discount a Boneyard gun and when they do you really have to know what the worst case scenario could be. Luckily this one was simple, and I could afford to lose £30. (I could've sold the mags for at least that anyway).

People rarely meaningfully discount a Boneyard gun and when they do you really have to know what the worst case scenario could be. Luckily this one was simple, and I could afford to lose £30. The leverage to charge X amount for a boneyard gun comes from knowing what the fault is because you can determine how much it will cost to fix. I find it laughable how people want 50-60% of retail for a boneyard gun with unknown faults and that old chestnut of "It should be an easy fix".

I get that people have spent a lot of money on the gun in the first place and that they want to see a return but airsoft guns are no different to most other items you'd spent a lot of money on but they don't work properly for whatever reason.

Yeah it often ends up not being worth it at all. I only really go if it's dirt cheap or is a known issue that I can fix. I stick to certain brands of GBBs for that reason.

It depends on how much you know of the teching arts.

One of the plus sides to getting comfortable with pew tinkering is being able to assume the worst in a secondhand trade.

That way you can buy purely on the externals visible in the ad knowing you've no issue rectifying whatever horror show is going on inside it, and for sure there can be superficially decent gats that even shoot that have just the worst internals you could imagine.

That said, not everything for sale is so bad, my horror story list features exclusively gats i've seen in-person before buying and none of the gats i've bought from these forums which have all functioned exactly as advertised.

We must remember of course that brand new isnt a panacea, fps reductions can often mean "throw whatever clicky-pen spring you found in the box o' bits in there and call it good" or have really shoddy work like drilling holes to make a massive air leak. In both cases you can end up with something that's going to eat a piston in half an hour or fail to hit the broadside of a barn from inside said barn. And ofc if you bought from a place that did that to begin with the "warranty" repair is unlikely to be any better than the brand new condition.

There is definitely snobbery in things like loadouts, RIFs and the playing style. I'd been on the receiving end of it as a P90 user as people looked down on it with unsolicited put-downs.

I have also experienced both sides in regards to my P90. I have been complimented but also been ripped on for it. I don't care much as I am there to have fun for myself not to please others and the people ripping on it, I just told them they wouldn't use it because it actually takes some skill and walked off lol (mic drop)
